We need to be able to include the comments in the email to the user who submitted for approval!</content>

    <content type="text">I have an issue with this!!  You guys are either misinterpreting this idea OR miscommunicating to all of your users.  This feature is NOT available yet in SFDC, although you are presenting as if it is.</content>

    <content type="text">The release note reads "Note that these approval merge fi elds will be populated only if the email template you create is used as the approval assignment
template. If you use the template for any other email alert action--in either workfl ow rules or approval processes--the merge
fi elds will return a null value."

So we cannot notify the user who submitted for approval with the comments? For example, in case of a conditional approval with some comments, the user should not only be notified that the approval is passed, but also he should be notified there are some comments......</content>

    <content type="text">Agreed. For example, if someone rejects, it would be nice that the email notification says why the request was rejected in the template without having to go back to salesforce.com</content>

    <content type="text">When sending an email from a template for a record submitted for approval, it would facilitate communication between the different approvers if the comments field was available.  This would allow a standardized template to include instructions from the previous approver when the record is assigned to the next user in the process.</content>
