Salesforce IdeaExchange
Allow retrievable security token through SFDC UI
Users should be able to retrieve their security token after logging in. The reset button should only be required when they wish to reset the token entirely.
For instance if a shared admin account is used by several API processes and the token is not known, resetting it just to retrieve the current token requires re-touching all of the other processes that used the old token.
Storing previous token emails is less-safe than being able to retrieve it via a secured session over https. The best practice would then be to reset a token, use the token, delete the email holding the token and then later simply retrieve it via the UI if needed again rather than maintaining the token email.

Integrate Google Chart Gadgets Into Reports and Dashboards
Charts available out of the box from Salesforce today are somewhat dull. (Sorry, honest truth) I'd like to see a way to securely integrate some of the new Google Charts you find in Google Spreadsheets as options inside of Salesforce on both Reports and Dashboards.
While some AppExchange partners allow you to visualize your data through s-controls and their products, I want to see an increase in the built-in charting capabilities of Salesforce.

API capability to retrieve Recent Items list of ID's
An Uncommon request... In an integrated application with a visual front end, I have a need to "start" the user someplace in their Account/Contact/Opportunity records.
It would be helpful if the GetUserInfo call could return the most recent "n" record ID's from that users "Recent Items" list. I don't need types, etc., that can be figured out, just the ID's would be sufficient.
This way the external interfaces can easily start the user at the most recently used records that they were using in the standard UI.
Discussion:
Clearly you can get around this now by just providing some ID through whatever mechanism you use to launch the application in the cases where it's launched via a URL or a web services call.
However doing this in a more standardized way would be better.
I can also see the value in not burdening the GetUserInfoResult with an extra 300 bytes or so when most people won't use this. Perhaps GetUserInfo can be parameterized to control it's inclusion. Pass an integer between 0 and 10 (defaulting to 0) to indicate how many MRU ID's you want returned.
I don't expect many people to find this useful. But it would be handy and, I suspect, easy to do.
Thanks, Steve.

Cannot include validation rules for standard objects in package
I have created some validation rules for fields in opportunity, but when I create a package for my application and install into another salesforce instance there appears to be no way to include these validation rules. I therefore have to add them manually each time my application is installed.

Searching for text within Word attachments
We store a large number of Word attachments eg one attachment against each contact record. It would be useful if the search facilities allowed us to:
1. Search for specified text within the Word attachments eg we want to search all attachments held on Saleforce for those containing the word "Christmas".
2. Search for specified text in the title of attachments.

Doc Generation Support for API/Guides/Apps/etc
Provide an generate documents for APEX Class/Triggers/Code/etc similar to Java Doc solution for partners/developers to easily document their code/designs/apis/etc for end users/third parties/etc as a software as a service.
- Documents generated could be displayed in HTML Form like salesforce developer documentation
- Documents could be downloaded in PDF format for offline use
- Document tags would be available to markup code, embed images, documents, etc into final form document
- Custom Document handers could be created in APEX to handle specialized document types (doclets)

API Access to Login History
The same data available when you "download full login history" should be queryable through the API. This would facilitate more complex reporting of login trends through partner or homegrown Apps.

Salesforce.com to Outlook Contact sync
I would like to be able to choose what Contacts are synced from Salesforce.com down to Outlook. Right now it is all Contacts that I own and All Contacts on the Accounts I own. I have some Contacts that I own but do not need to be brought down to Outlook and there are other Contacts that are owned by people below me that I would like to have in my Outlook.
The only way I can see to do this now is to create Duplicate Contacts within salesforce.com for the Contacts that I do not own and for the ones I do own is to just put up with having them in my Outlook.

Officially Support and Update the Excel Connector
Just about anyone who uses Salesforce.com extensively or manages a lot of data in Salesforce.com finds the Excel Connector to be an INVALUABLE tool, and crucial to making management of data in Salesforce.com an efficient undertaking.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make the Excel Connector a FREE and SUPPORTED desktop application, perhaps even integrated with the "Connect for Office" application. Also, please allow one version of the Excel Connector to support all editions of Salesforce.com (Group, Professional, Enterprise, etc.). With so many of your customers relying on this application to manage their Salesforce.com data, it is detrimental to your customer satisfaction ratings to not officially support and update the Excel Connector.

Provide a way to share ideas between IdeaExchange and Salesforce Ideas
We rolled out Ideas within our org last week and we're getting some good ideas from our users. One of the ideas we already implemented! However, some of the ideas are beyond our control and need to be transferred to IdeaExchange. I hate to tell our users that they have to re-enter their idea, and everyone has to re-vote, and they have to go to two different places to do this.
It would be great if there was an option within Ideas that would allow an Administrator to provide visibility to a specific record within Ideas to IdeaExchange, so that votes and comments could continue to be entered through Ideas, as well as through IdeaExchange.
