Permit enablement of "Allow Activities" for packaged custom objects
Once a custom object is placed in a managed package it's not possible to enable activity tracking on it. Without activity tracking it's not possible to create workflows on the object that create a task.
From SF Help:
"Before you create a workflow task for a custom object, make sure the custom object tracks activities."
It should be possible to enable activity tracking on custom objects that are in a managed package.
Customizable Record Type defaults for Lead Conversion
When converting Leads, please give us the ability to define the Record Type for any new Accounts, Contacts, or Opportunities that are created. Today, records created from a Lead conversion take on the default Record Type of the User performing the Lead conversion. A more useful approach would be to allow Administrators to define a default Account, Contact, and Opportunity record Type based on the Lead Record Type.
mass delete picklist values (setup)
Currently, to delete all values in a custom picklist field, we have to select the Del link beside each value. I would like either a button Delete All (except default), or checkbox selected to delete many values at a time.
Picklists For Lookups To Other Objects
In certain instances, it would be better for a lookup field to another object to be formatted as a picklist instead of a free text field.
Perhaps certain custom objects could be designated as a "static" or "reference" objects, and would be limited to holding a certain number of records (say 100 or 200). The user would then have the option of creating a "Picklist Lookup" field on another object which would present the records in the "reference object" as values in the picklist.
That would allow administrators and developers to store hidden data values for picklist items in the "reference object", but still present the label values in the picklist.
This is a basic capability in any relational database, and it would greatly enhance the capabilities of the Salesforce.com platform and allow for more robust business application development
This is related to Chris925's idea:

but different because I would like to see the picklist values actually stored in a custom object, not just have a hyperlink to a report for the selected value.
Ability to specify sender email address for workflow email alerts
We need the ability to specify the FROM email address for email alerts that are triggered by workflow rules. Currently email alerts are sent using the email address of the last user who modified the record.
Send on behalf of, instead of looking like spoofed emails
When sending emails from salesforce.com they look spoofed, which can cause some delivery issues getting the emails delivered.
Use the "Sender:" SMTP header field to set salesforce.com as the sender of the emails, and send the emails on behalf of users.
The header would look like this:
--------------------------------
Return-path: user@acme.com
To: someuser@gmail.com
From: user@acme.com
Sender: noreply@salesforce.com
Reply-to: user@acme.com
Transparent Pricing
I would love to see more transparent pricing for all salesforce editions and features. Something like shopping cart application where you can select edition, add features and extras and see real-time effect on pricing.
I see this feature as follows:
1. Select Edition
2. Based on selected edition choose which non-included features to add (i.e. customer portal, prm, sandbox, Apex Code, platform, more storage, what have you)
3. Add number of licenses
4. The the final total list price.
5. Modify selections - see effect on price.
Make pricing and feature dependencies transparent and easy to configure and understand beyond current feature matrix ...
Am I being too naive?
Email Templates with Custom From & Reply Fields
The ability to have each individual email template have a property from "From" and "Reply-to" fields so when you are sending out different emails they can look like they are from different people.
Since there is a spam/security concern these email addresses could be verified by the admin at set up or added and verified later.
My company runs websites and each website is unique with their own email address so we want the ability to use an email template that is using that address. This also lets us track the incoming email to the correct spot without having to have everything go to one account.
Eliminate Need for Master-Detail Relationship for Roll-ups
I want to be able to have a roll-up for any related object regardless if there is a Master-Detail relationship. If the object is linked to another object, then it should be able to roll-up.
Officially Support and Update the Excel Connector
Just about anyone who uses Salesforce.com extensively or manages a lot of data in Salesforce.com finds the Excel Connector to be an INVALUABLE tool, and crucial to making management of data in Salesforce.com an efficient undertaking.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make the Excel Connector a FREE and SUPPORTED desktop application, perhaps even integrated with the "Connect for Office" application. Also, please allow one version of the Excel Connector to support all editions of Salesforce.com (Group, Professional, Enterprise, etc.). With so many of your customers relying on this application to manage their Salesforce.com data, it is detrimental to your customer satisfaction ratings to not officially support and update the Excel Connector.
Delete Associated Dashboards with Report
When trying to delete a report we used for default dashboards that are no longer applicable, we get the error above. Without the ability to manage each person's dashboard, we are forced to hide these reports in a folder somewhere in hopes that all of our users will eventually notice it's broken and move them. This has created a giant mess in our folder structures.
Either give us the capability delete the reports and links to the dashboards or give us a list of which users/dashboards it's linked to so we can ask those users to remove them manually.
Make 'Customize Application' permission more granular
There are a lot of different types of permissions in this one tick box and it would be great if they were split out a bit more. For example, it may be useful to give a marketing super user access to the lead routing rules, without giving them the power to rearrange the whole configuration.
