Need Ability to Package Autonumber Fields for Standard Objects
I was very disappointed to realize that auto-number fields are not packageable for standard SF objects. What is the reason for this? It wouldn't seem like too much work to auto-calculate all the existing data on install to populate the new field.
Crystal Reports.com
Seems when you get an error using crystalreports.com with Salesforce.com, there is no one to help with technical support. I spent days being passed from person to person at Business Objects many 800 numbers. I always ended back with the Sales Department. ??
The CR department says that CR.com is different from CR. They could help with CR, but the only way to get support for CR.com is through email. But they don't email back.
We have these great reports we can't access and no one knows how to help. Now what?
Licensing of Managed Packages
Functionality to "license" Managed Packages so that the owner of the Managed Package (the Publisher or Partner) can control how many users in the customer org can access the managed package, and for what duration
Free and Discounted Apps for Nonprofits
It would be great to be able to search for Apps that are free or discounted for Nonprofit Organizations.
Under My Filters/ Additional Filters adding:
1) Free for Nonprofits
2) Discounted for Nonprofits
Trigger Assignment & Auto Response Rules for Managed Package Leads
Is there any way that Assignment and Auto Response Rules could be triggered for new Managed Package (lead source = "Package Installation") leads? All other automatic lead creation is done via web-to-lead (e.g. AppExchange Test Drive and Install leads) where Assignment Rules and Auto Response Rules are automatically triggered. For Managed Package installs, however, leads are created via the API/Apex, which does not trigger assignment or auto response rules. Salesforce Workflow handles most of what's needed, but it makes it inconsistent with the way other leads are processed and there are tiny nuances to workflow (e.g. emails sent are not auto created as activities) that make it less convenient than Assignment & Auto Response Rules.
I understand the need to have License Manager login to the org to setup the data since you need to be certain that a Lead exists before linking a License Record to it. I am hoping, however, that Salesforce could use some behind-the-scenes trickery to make it so Assignment & Auto Response Rules are invoked in this circumstance.
Tab Limit Workarounds for AppExchange Downloads
As an AppExchange partner, I want people downloading my application to trial it. There are 3 tabs in my application and, occasionally, people hit tab limits in their org when installing. Some people have contacted me when this occurs, but I don't know how many have just stopped the download.
In my app, 1 of the 3 tabs is mandatory. The other 2 are just very convenient. I'd like to suggest one of two possible solutions.
1) Allow AppExchange partners to qualify an object as mandatory or optional. In my example, I'd have 1 mandatory tab and 2 optional ones. If someone was hitting their limit due to the 2 extra tabs, they'd be able to uncheck those as options in the download.
2) Make it so objects contained in certified AppExchange applications do not count towards an Org's quota. This is the MOST IDEAL solution. It rewards the AppExchange partner by knocking down barriers to get installed into orgs. It rewards the Salesforce customer by letting them choose freely from application providers that have gone to the trouble (and paid) to become CERTIFIED.
Just to pre-empt the comments about how I could have a standard download for people and then provide a second AppExchange package as an "expansion pack"; I know that already. That's a fine idea, but customers get confused by this kind of thing. My goal (and a goal every application provider should have) is to provide as close to a one-click install as possible, making the process seamless and simple.
PLEASE make Organization object available to platform license types via API
Currently, the Organization object which contains Company Profile - Company Information is not available via the API for Platform license users.
The result of this is that our native application can not query the Organization for the org address or other useful information. At the very least please make the data readonly.
The business impact for us is some of our scontrols error out for our platform users. In this case, printing letters.
Custom App Logo Looks Crooked
This is a small thing but kind of annoying. When I create a custom app and add a logo it always looks crooked because there is a very thin bit of border missing at the top.
I have to take the logo, draw the border on it using paintshop or the like, then upload it again - otherwise it does not look professional.
It would be good if the logo was placed within the border.
Salesforce Product Kit for Partners
As partners, its very hard to sell the add-on features to Salesforce.com when some of us haven't ever touched them, administered them, or been able to use them on a regular basis. Microsoft often gives away their entire software suite to their partners for a song, in order to provide their partners with the tools they need to sell and support that software. Salesforce should provide complimentary licenses of the follow features/products to their partners for free or very little cost:
Salesforce to Salesforce
Salesforce Partners/PRM
Salesforce Content
Salesforce Customer Portal
Salesforce Sandbox
Salesforce Mobile
Force.com/Platform Edition
one Unlimited Edition org for the partner's internal use
and more...
Many 3rd party AppExchange providers give free accounts to other Salesforce.com partners to help them sell their solutions. I think that Salesforce.com should do the same itself for its loyal partners.
Use Data Loader to extract the actual value of lookup fields, not only the ID
I think we should be able to pull an extract via the Data Loader to find the actual value in the lookup field. For example, when pulling a report on contacts, the owner will only appear as 'owner id', not 'owner name'. Same for account name, related to name, etc. This can be frustrating when I'm trying to simply view the data, because I need to convert all of the IDs to the actual value they represent (as displayed in yellow above).
Hopefully this will also allow us to create formula fields that reference an actual lookup value, not the ID.
Provide a free license to be used for each AppExchange integration
Every time I add a new appexchange app that modifies salesforce.com data, I need to buy a new salesforce.com license for that system, in order to ensure the integrity of the created by, last modified by, and other audit trail data.
Instead, salesforce.com should offer a free api-only license for each AppExchange solution that modifies data.
