Salesforce.com Certification Program
In the 5 years that I've been my company's salesforce.com administrator, my fellow employees have been able to obtain industry recognized certifications from Oracle and Microsoft. At the same time as improving their skill sets, these certifications improve their opportunity for job security, career advancement and better compensation. My salesforce experience doesn't mean as much during my HR review as my friend's Microsoft certification. And I don't want to be penalized for focusing on salesforce.com instead of SQL, .NET or Oracle.
I know that you have some courses available but it's easier to get funding for courses that are part of a certification program that a stand alone course. And how about a self study option for some of the classroom courses?
Salesforce has a certification program for partner companies but how about one for the system administrators that actually make your product work for your customers?

3 columns in page layout
To reduce scrolling and keep the contacts page as compact as possible it would be nice to have 3 columns (or even more) to display in the page layout. We use check boxes quite a bit and they could easily be displayed in more than 2 columns to save space.
Get rid of "Google Apps" ad on homepage
Make it so I can hide the "Google Apps" add in the top right corner on the home page.
My users feel that as paying customers, they shouldn't need to subject their users to seeing ads that don't apply to their business (feel Google Apps isn't compliant, etc). They feel it not only is unwarranted, but also creates an expectations gap between their users and project teams, as the project team may not be planning on implementing certain features advertised there.
I'm guessing the same would apply to the "Learn about Summer '08" etc ads that are sometimes displayed in that same spot - my users don't want their constituents to see it, but instead to present it to them themselves when warranted.
Smart "Customize" Button on Reports
Create a dropdown that makes it easy to jump to any step in the Report Wizard.
Multiple Profiles assigned to a user
It would be really nice if a user could have multiple profiles. We have run into an issue where we have a group of call center users that have the standard Call Center Profile. But now 5 of those users need to be able to add/modify solutions. So now i have to have a Call Center Profile and a Call Center w/ Solutions Profile. Now if one of the sales users needs to be able edit solutions, I now have to have 4 different profiles:
1. Call Center Profile
2. Call Center w/ Solutions Profile
3. Sales Profile
4. Sales w/ Solutions Profile
It would be ideal if you could have a Call Center Profile, Sales Profile, and then a Solutions Profile. Then based on the multiple profiles the user will have access to additional items. And be able to have any combination so you are managing fewer profiles. Especially since you can't have a description for a profile.
Cross Object Workflow
Do not hard code the Object (see above image) when creating Workflow Field Updates. Allow administrators to choose a field to pass based on a relationship (lookup or master detail). For example, a Workflow Rule based on Case would be allowed to have a Workflow Field Update change a Contact field for the Contact record associated with the Case.
Dependent page layouts - Dynamically show, hide, or make fields/sections required on a page based on data rules
There are times when it would be ideal to show different fields or sections on a page based on field data. For example, if a field for "software interest" is selected on a lead page, it would be nice if a section and/or fields related to capturing more information on "Software" is displayed. If the field is not selected, then this section and/or fields remain hidden.
Allowing greater customization on the page level based on data rules would make for more manageable and targeted page layouts.
Blank spaces in Page Layout
A number of times I have been requested to line up fields horizontally with each other. This can only be done if there are fields above the desired horizontal line up. I propose that SFDC make blank fields available to be added to page layouts so that the placement of fields is more flexible.
I think the picture explains what I want better than I could in words.
Cross-Object Formula Fields: Be able to insert related Object data into a formula field
Like: Get the Account name in a contact formula field.
State and Country should be pick lists
We have many people around the world that don't keep typing in the correct c ountry and state name. How can we get these to be pick lists.
Default to Advanced Formula tab in Formula Editor
When I create a new formula field, I would like it to default to the Advanced Formula tab instead of the Simple one. This should be an option I can set in my personal setup.
