Cross Object Workflow
Do not hard code the Object (see above image) when creating Workflow Field Updates. Allow administrators to choose a field to pass based on a relationship (lookup or master detail). For example, a Workflow Rule based on Case would be allowed to have a Workflow Field Update change a Contact field for the Contact record associated with the Case.

Mark Reports with the Report Type that Created it
With so many Standard and Custom Report Types it can be extremely difficult to teach users how to "fish" and create reports for themselves. Have you ever tried troubleshooting a report someone has handed you when you have no idea which report type they started with? Let's make it simple and put the name of the report type somewhere in the report wizard, or at the very least on each report.
Yeah, I know, you could just send the example report to everyone and their Uncles, letting them deal with it. But really, wouldn't it be better to let them see the report type and say, "Okay, so THIS report type ain't got the fields I need."

Drag & Drop Reports
I have recently had to re-file some reports that we no longer use but need to keep in an archive folder within Salesforce reports. To do this I have had to edit every report, change the folder name and save it. What would have made this job a lot easier would have been the ability to drag the report from one folder to another without going into the report itself.
Quick and easy!
Custom Reports - One Parent, Multiple Children
Sometimes when reporting, we'd like to be able to report on a parent object and multiple child objects, rather than straight down the parent-child-grandchild chain.
In our company, child contracts are produced from parents opportunities. Our finance team want to be able to look at the contracts and the Opportunity Products in the same report to allow them to work out what products are being sold for each contract we produce.
Could this not be a possibility or is there a way to link all three objects together to allow for combined reporting?

Report on Field History Tracking for Detail Object in Master-Detail Relationship
Add the ability to report on Field History Tracking for a detail object in a master-detail relationship. For instance, you have a custom object called Quotes and create a lookup field with a master-detail relationship to Accounts. You enable field history tracking on the Quotes object and would like to report on this data.
Note: You can already report on the field history tracking for custom objects that are not the detail object in a master-detail relationship.

MERGE Leads into Existing Contacts
Currently, when you convert a Lead INTO an existing Contact, you have no control over what data is kept except the lead source. The default occurs each time--blank Contact fields are filled with Lead data, all other Lead data is deleted.
We had a particular problem with this for checkbox fields. The checkbox field is always considered "blank," so any boxes that are checked for a Lead will never be checked when converted into an existing Contact.
Salesforce should introduce a new option in the Lead conversion process similiar to the Merge Contact functionality, allowing you to choose what values to keep when merging a Lead into an existing Contact.

Need Ability to Add More Than Two Columns to Layouts
Detail view layouts are not customizable enough. A few times I've needed to add a section to a page layout with 3 columns, but this is inexplicably not an option. I know it's possible because standard "Custom Links" section has 3 columns. Also would be nice to adjust field widths as mentioned in other posts.

Login As....any role, any profile
It would be excellent if administrators could login as any user role and profile combination to test out settings directly in the production environment.
This is similar to the functionality currently available where one can login as a user however
1. You wouldn't need to get the user to grant you access
2. You could test out role and profile combinations not yet assigned to a user
This would be extremely useful for verifying that users have visibility and functionality that they require BEFORE they complain that they don't have it.

Drag and Drop for Dashboard Editing
When editing dashboards, users are given arrows for the positioning of dashboard elements on the screen. Using the arrows can be tedious, as it takes a complete screen refresh for each move.
I would like to have the ability to drag and drop each dashboard element for position changes. This functionality would be similar to the functionality that is already provided for page layouts, where administrators have the ability to drag and drop field locations on the screen.

Scheduled emailing of reports
I'd like SFDC to be able to email Printable View reports on a scheduled basis. For example, instead of our CEO needing to log into SFDC (and needing to pay for a license), I could simply have the system send him daily or weekly reports via email. The reports would be in the existing Printable View format. Otherwise, we have people who spend an inordinate amount of time simply running and sending reports to various managers and executives each week.

Blank spaces in Page Layout
A number of times I have been requested to line up fields horizontally with each other. This can only be done if there are fields above the desired horizontal line up. I propose that SFDC make blank fields available to be added to page layouts so that the placement of fields is more flexible.
I think the picture explains what I want better than I could in words.
