Sort field list in the Data Loader
The data loader is a great tool. But field lists are never in alphabetical order (as seen on the left image). Please sort the field list before rendering it, to make selecting fields easier and quicker (as proposed on the right image).

Report Filters Should Be Able To Compare Fields To Each Other
Instead of just being able to compare fields to values, there should be a way to compare them to other fields. For instance, if "Amount is great than Annual Amount" (Custom field). As opposed to just "Amount is great than 'some value'"

Officially Support and Update the Excel Connector
Just about anyone who uses Salesforce.com extensively or manages a lot of data in Salesforce.com finds the Excel Connector to be an INVALUABLE tool, and crucial to making management of data in Salesforce.com an efficient undertaking.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make the Excel Connector a FREE and SUPPORTED desktop application, perhaps even integrated with the "Connect for Office" application. Also, please allow one version of the Excel Connector to support all editions of Salesforce.com (Group, Professional, Enterprise, etc.). With so many of your customers relying on this application to manage their Salesforce.com data, it is detrimental to your customer satisfaction ratings to not officially support and update the Excel Connector.

Recurring Tasks
The ability to have recurring tasks would make scheduling much easier. Currently, our company has multiple reports due at the same time each. In order to set reminders for myself, I have to use the calendar, which then shows that I am unavailalbe because I am busy. These types of functions should be utizling recurring tasks, like Microsoft Outlook Tasks.

Sort Order for Tasks on Home Page
Is there a way to change the sort order for Tasks on the Home tab? Currently the oldest display on top. If one has a lot of tasks, then you can't see your most current tasks without scrolling. I would like the option to have the date order reversed, with the most current tasks on top.

Send Gmail and Add to Salesforce (like the Outlook plugin)
Any chance of a Salesforce-Gmail integration similar to the Outlook one? Not sure if this is possible via the web, so maybe it's a future request, but one I'd love to see.
Plus you can bet that if Google wants to really compete with MS Outlook, they'll need to have an offline version of Gmail - and I'd love for the Salesforce add-in to be ready for installing when it goes live. :-)

Merge Duplicate Ideas
Within the Salesforce Ideas Product there needs to be a way to merge duplicate ideas. In the screenshot below the merged idea gets added as a comment to the original idea. This might not be the most elegant approach, but you get the idea. Part of this feature would be the ability to merge the votes for reporting purposes.

Package IP address ranges - Whitelist Certified partner apps
With the advent of the Identity Confirmation features in salesforce.com, partners with composite AppExchange applications need to have customers explicitely Trust their external services (only if the composite application uses the API Login() call).
A packaging feature is needed so that the partner can package the required IP address range in the approved package posted to the AppExchange. Since all applications are Certified for security, these IP ranges can be tested by Salesforce.com during the final review process and sanctioned as "trusted".
Upon installation by the customer, the installer wizard could present a confirmation panel to the user indicating that the packaged IP address range will be added to the customer org's Trusted IP addresses.

Link a single Contact to Multiple Accounts
Currently, you can only link a contact to a single account. Sometimes, a single contact may belong to multiple accounts -- it would be helpful to be able to link that single contact to multiple accounts -- rather than having to create a duplicate contact for each account, which is time consuming and results in duplicate contacts to manage.

Formula limitations - length of formula and compiled size
It will be good to get rid of formula limitations.
1. The length of text that the formula can have is 1300 characters.
Due to this limitation, I had to split my formula in to two or more variables - write the first part of the formula in the 1st variable, write a 2nd variable to refer to the 1st variable and continue with the rest of the formula, etc.
2. Max size of compiled formula is 5000 character.
I think when you refer another formula in your formula, there is a limitation is the size after compilation.
3. when the same formula field is referred more than once in a formula, the compilation happens to translate the formula as many times as it's called.
Example:
Formula1_Field=IF (1<2><3>))
In this case, when Formula2_Field is compiled it translates Formula1_Field twice. In my real case, CASE statement cannot be written when you are checking for multiple expressions.

Need warning when user is about to navigate away from page without saving changes they made during Inline Editing
The Inline Editing feature in Winter'08 release is a great tool, and my users love it! One complaint, however, is that there is no warning to the user if they're about to navigate away from the page before saving their changes.
This most often comes up if they've made a number of changes to an object via inline editing, and then try to change the owner of the object BEFORE saving the changes that they've made to the inline editor. When this happens, they can't even hit the "Back" arrow in the browser -- all the changes are gone.
Please provide a pop-up / warning to a user if they are about to navigate away from an object in which they have made inline editing changes (preserving the changes, and giving the user a chance to save those before leaving the page).

Cross Object Workflow
Do not hard code the Object (see above image) when creating Workflow Field Updates. Allow administrators to choose a field to pass based on a relationship (lookup or master detail). For example, a Workflow Rule based on Case would be allowed to have a Workflow Field Update change a Contact field for the Contact record associated with the Case.
