Inline editing of REPORTS
Inline editing should be extended to include Reports. We use reports to have our users clean up a lot of data and currently you have to drill into each record separately to edit.
It would be nice to be able to double-click one line of a report and do an inline edit right there without leaving the report.

My users just asked me for this today. They want to run a report every morning to see the new leads and be able change the Rating for a lead by inline editing a row. |

Changed status to Large Enterprise Idea. |

This would be a tremendous time saver for sales reps which gives them more time to be on the phone. Currently part of our sales team does not use Opportunities because of the wasted time clicking into an opportunity just to edit one or two fields. |

Great idea. This would be real helpful. A work around we use, is to hold the SHIFT key and clicking on the opportunity. This opens the opportunity in a separate window where edits can be made. Once edits are made, simply close that window, and you are back to the report. |

just as important to this idea: to be able to edit a line item for a report that pulls in multiple objects |

sullyatl: Or holding down Ctrl, if using Firefox, Chrome or Safari, which opens it in a new tab. |

Great idea but we would like this to be a permission on user profile. A report is just that and not all users should have the ability to manipulate. |

Our users would like this feature as they currently edit a report in Excel which proves to be faster then editing records seperately in salesforce. As a result users are resenting salesforce and not using the system properly. They are sticking to their more efficient spreadsheets for updating their records. |

Definately a good idea, as stated above, if locked down based on profile for data security. |

Edit Single Fields on Double Click ON REPORTS !!
Since last version, we are now able to edit single fields in a view or in a lay out.
But quick Edit of a Single Field ON REPORTS would be really appreciated !! That would help users to gain a lot in productivity. ideally we could select and edit several lines ;-) |

Inline editing - Reports
Hi,
It would be nice if I could create a report and then change the field in the report by double clicking and editing / pull menu etc. Otherwise ... I have to OPEN each case one at a time ... and that takes a long time. |

I agree. Report data would be much more useful if we could at least view and edit via console.

Right ... and the current way you have to:
1) open the page 2) Make the change 3) Go back to the report page 4) re-run the report 5) Rinse - Repeat |

One simple thing that helps this bug/problem is to start using a browser that supports tabs. Open up the report and then open each case in it's own tab. Then go through the tabs, make your changes to each case and finally close all tabs but the report's tab.
I would also like to see the proposed be developed, but this is a work-around I use in the meantime. |

Thanks! I use that workaround today ... but it still takes more time than in should :) and we still need to re-run all the time to check the changes etc.

This is EXACTLY what I'm looking for. When I generate a new opportunity, and don't know for sure when it will close, I just put it to year-end. My boss is now looking at my pipeline and seeing a fantastic December, which isn't necessarily true. I need a way to change all those dates without drilling down into each opp. I sell software that is similar to SF in that it is a relational database. We developed what we call the Matrix Assessor which does exactly this. You can export a selection of opportunities to the assessor (a feature within the software) and then change the fields without drilling down. |

Ted you know that you can create a view and update your opps and they also have a Mass Update Opp app program you could look into in the meantime |
