I would like to be able to tag records in a similar fashion to http://del.icio.us
I realize that one can tag solutions. However, I would like to be able to tag anything. Furthermore, I don't want to be constricted by pre-defined tags as with the solutions. I want to be able to enter them on the fly.
I would propose that a new field type be created called "Tag"
If applicable, when one clicks on this field one would enter tags separated by spaces.
Corresponding to this, would be a new list tag view or cloud tag view.
Here's an example:
I currently use Salesforce.com to track both customers and vendors among other entities.
I have a field called Type under Accounts whereby one selects Customer, Vendor, Competitor, Government Agency, Trade Organization, etc
I created a new Multi-select field under Accounts called subtype that applies, at this point, only to Vendors. There, I can select from a large list of items. I were in the steel construction industry. So, some sample values are: steel, paint, fasteners, welding, crane, trucking, etc.
The reason why this new type of field would be very helpful is that often a supplier suppliers many different types of items.
Hope this helps.
