Yes, instead of putting it up to a vote, surprise us with the power and branding might of the final logo. I don't know about the rest of the users, but during each release cycle I sit, pondering, mulling, even fretting over whether my choice of logo has received the plaudits and votes needed to thrust it ahead of the others and enter the glory that is the Marketing Material. I don't think I can stand it anymore! I mean the tension of wondering: Will it be the melting ice cube? No, the Boarder is far cooler, but wait, it's not winter in Australia, but they have Penguins! But that connotes Linux and we're a service. The stress and anxiety of waiting for the decision, the arguing, fighting and sniping with peers over the Logo symbolism and it's inevitable comparisons to Google logo-as-art/whimsy is just too great! Please, I far prefer it to be a mystery that I eagerly and anxiously await with a worm in my mouth. Not a mere feature that enables a solution, or bug fix that resolves a dilemma, etc. No, those are merely bits of technological achievement that don't matter in the overall scheme of things. Tell us about those in advance ad nauseam, we can take it. All these other Ideas, these "my filter can't do this", "it would be nice if that", "how come I can't do the other" are fine enough; we can debate their merits and vote on them with the common courtesy and professional demeanor becoming to such a forum. Our psyches can handle the tug of war between the capabilities of the current product and the promised wonder of future technologies as yet releases and editions away. But this, the logo question, is too full of logo'y goodness for us to be exposed to without having access. So please, I beg of you, don't dawdle these iconic gems in front of us while making us wait for them, but rather keep us unaware. Keep them under your hat, tucked away deep in the ImageReady caverns of your disk until they are ready to be released, fully formed and ready to entice us to use the trivial and mundane features that are released, almost as an afterthought, to the Logo in all it's marketing and branding glory. Pleading, in a twisted hell of logo voting, Steve |

I like it. It fits with the polar bears from earlier to make a nice wintry sequence for these warm global times... Winter 2006: Cute fluffy polar bear Winter 2007: Melting ice cube Winter 2008: Drowned polar bear floating face-down Winter 2009: Surfboard! |

This is depressing! All the selections are poor - no life, no excitement. A penguin - too overdone these days, an ice cube to serve as a reminder of global warming every time I go to salesforce, a snowboarder who has just falled down on the job, a trite bow you can buy for .$50 in the local gift shop, a package with a bow. Really, back to the drawing board folks. |

The ice actually makes me think of summer, which is when I use ice that looks like this. |

This actually makes me think of ice carved statues :). Funny but I like it. Nicely done graphically. I would rather have this than the penguin ;) NO penguin. |

+1 more for Steve's comment, and +1 for RTHawk thinking of summer when seeing an ice cube. |
