Allow for batch "Help Text" field update via Apex Data Loader

Now that we can provide data for the "Help Text" in Summer 07, I can provide a quick way for my users to see exactly what data should be entered in a field or what the data is that was systematically entered in a field.

Given that I probably have 100+ custom field spread across multiple objects, it would be much easier if I could do the updates via an Excel Spreadsheet and then load them back to the app via the Apex Data Loader versus modifying them one by one within the web client.

Here is not perfect but reasonable workaround I used. - create xls file with 3 columns - column one: ID of your custom field (you can get in from Setup or Firefox Page Info <post> view) - column two: Custom help text. Replace spaces with %20 - column three: calculation cell, format URL where https://<pod>.salesforce.com/<field_id>/e?InlineHelpText=<custo... is na1 or na2 or emea - whichever is applicable to you <field_id> is your second column <custom_help> column two Now, you need to click on each URL and than accept. Remember it will replace your existing Help Text field. You can extend this xls to hold other values like Desc or Default value. 100 clicks is still better than 300-400 if you need to go through Setup \| Object \| Fields etc.
