Display the Account name on a Contact lookup search result

When you enter a popular name into Contact lookup field the system will return a list of contacts with the same spelling. The only way to identify the real contact is to perform a separate search and match the right Contact/Account combination.

A much better solution would be to display an Account name within the Lookup result list.

Tina 08/17/07	This is already available... You (admin) can customize the fields you want to see under Setup, (the object you want to customize.. in your case.. Contacts) Search Layouts, Lookup Dialogs. Hope that helps.. Works great for us.

tonka07 08/23/07	In our instance, it would also be helpful to display the Contact Owner (we have multiple business units sharing Accounts, yet they are able to own their Contacts).

craskulinecz 10/12/07	Another thought would be to allow the admin to pick what shows up next to the person's name, it may be an account name, but it would be nice to also be able to choose a different field either from the contact object, or the account object.
sparky 10/26/07	I like this idea but it should be optional. Some of us who work with non-profits and other individually-focused operations are sometimes connecting some Contacts to "dummy" accounts - account placeholders that have no meaning. For instance, most of our clients have a whole slew of contacts connected to a single Account called "Individual". We wouldn't want that showing up in this context.
karenstevens Jan 22	Great idea, but ideally, you should be able to pull in whichever fields you want. The ones that are presently supplied don't work at all for us. Don't just limit the search to the account name, allow it for other fields on account page layout, including custom fields!
sortit Mar 20	Wholeheartedly agree with karenstevens and craskulinecz! We need the ability to choose what we would like to search for in the look-up fields. Perhaps the filter option like in the Contact Object?
adrian-e Apr 24	What about an option to define several columns to appear in the lookup field? For example: CONTACTNAME ACCOUNTNAME ACCOUNTNUMBER When prompted to select one of multiple results, you can see which one is the desired contact by looking at the additional columns that appear for that person.

wellingtonbelle Aug 11	Yes, yes, yes! Please do this! We cant currently run reports on all our Activities showing contacts + account name, which is really annoying. We have had to work around this by running reports against opportunities, but it's not ideal.
