Gauge graphic in Dashboard with Percentage
It would be great if the Gauge graphics in Dashboards could show the achievement percentage against the target.

Service Interruption Alerts for Salesforce Admins
It would be a HUGE help to Salesforce Admins if we were notified of a service interruption via email, rather than having to:
A. Call Salesforce Support (which almost ALWAYS says that "The system is operating normally, and there are no outages reported").
B. Check the Trust.Salesforce.com site (which sometimes is also down during service interruption).
C. When users ask you why Salesforce is down, shrug and give them the same expression that a dog makes when the phone rings.

Nesting Folders / Sub-folders for Reports, Dashboards, Email Templates, etc.
It would be great if we could create folder hierarchies for Reports, Dashboards, Documents, Email Templates etc. I have had many, many Salesforce users and admins request this feature. It would especially make the Reports tab a lot easier to navigate, and would help administrators be able to keep analytics better organized and easier to find - which would greatly help user adoption.

Exception Reporting (outer joins)
There needs to be the ability to run exception or without reports. For example: show me all Accounts without an Opportunity. It would also be nice to include the total number of accounts in the report so % comparisons could be made. For example: of the 1000 Accounts in salesforce.com, 350 did not have Opportunities, hence 35% of all accounts are without an opportunity.

Build Email Template - Send Yourself a TEST Email
When I build an email template, I have to open a new screen, pick a sample lead and send myself a test mail template to make sure the formatting is correct and it looks ok.
Salesforce should include a button on the template that says, "Send Test Message" just so you can see how the mail will turn out.

Compare one Time Period to Another Time Period in a Dashboards
It would be great to be able to have dashboards compare a duration of time to another duration of time (i.e. year to date prior year compared to year to date this year or last year December compared to this year December.
This information would be on one dashboard and would allow users to see how they are doing compared to last year, budget etc.

Filter on Lookup
I would like to filter lookup view to restrict records return based on some condition.
Example: On opportunity screen, we have Accounts as lookup. When you click on lookup it displays all the types of accounts (Like OEM / Parent / Customer / Partner etc ...) I would like to filter this result set to show only "Parent" type. Condition may change based on the screen where lookup is implemented

Multiple Master-Detail relationships
It doesn't seem to be possible to create a chain of master-detail relationships, like this:
House -> Key Set -> Key
Using this example, I can create a master-detail relationship between House and Key Set. But I cannot then create one between Key Set and Key, as the Key Set object doesn't appear on the drop-down menu when I try to add a master-detail field on the Key object.
This means:
- I can't use roll-up summary fields on Key Set
- If I delete a Key Set, the Key objects under it won't be deleted
Please make it possible to chain master-detail relationships.

Resolve confusing default view picklist selection and the label below it
The View picklist at the top of the Home page for each tab is very distracting when I first load the page. I am constantly confused by the contradiction between the visible (default) selection in the picklist, which is at the top of the page and thus the first thing I see, and the results shown in the list below it. For instance, in the accompanying screenshot, the picklist selection is "All Open Leads", however the result list below it is empty, which I know is incorrect.
This page is confusing because the picklist is the first thing the eye sees, but it is NOT correlated whith the results below when you first load the page. My eye does NOT first see the label immediately below the picklist, which is the true label for the results shown. I constantly get questions about this from new users. The proximity of these two items (results label and picklist selection) and similar perceived importance on the page create dissonance, thus reducing usability.
Two ways to make this work better:
1) Move the View picklist to the right side of the page. This would be more consistent with common usability rules. That way the bold type label for the View results is the first thing the eye will see since it will now be at the top center of the page.
2) Make the default selection visible in the View picklist to be the actual view results that are displayed below. In most cases, this would mean the picklist default which shows would need to say something like "Recent Leads". The corollary to this is to make the picklist default selection drive/determine the results that display below.

Display the Account name on a Contact lookup search result
When you enter a popular name into Contact lookup field the system will return a list of contacts with the same spelling. The only way to identify the real contact is to perform a separate search and match the right Contact/Account combination.
A much better solution would be to display an Account name within the Lookup result list.

Sharing Rules based on Record Type
It would be really nice and beneficial to allow admins to breakdown the sharing rules based on record type instead of a general category.
We have 2 different record types for opportunities, one all users need to see and one that's restricted; however, the sharing rules only allow for me to say mark ALL opps private or not. Needless to say, because this feature is not available, guess who gets stuck with having to provide information on the opps that users NEED to see? Mua!

Rich Text Editor Toolbar for all large text boxes
The limitation of straight text in all of the large "Comment" or "Body" text boxes is painful. I'd like to see a basic formatting tool bar on all of these fields so that at the very least, bullets look like bullets and text can be emphasized as needed.
