Thunderbird supports an calendar which is is Lightning:
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/lightning/
It would be usefull if Salesforce's calendar could be synchronized with Lightning knowing that iMIP and CalDAV are supported.

Maybe is a good idea to merge this idea with Email plugin for Mozilla Thunderbird (http://ideas.salesforce.com/article/show/23535) The main problem I see is that Sunbird/Lighting development is not progressing very fast. |

I've already moved most of my company's non-CRM users to Thunderbird citing Lightning as providing all of the calendaring support that Outlook used to be the only solution for. Nowadays, there's Google Calendar, too. This is just another piece of disentanglement for those of us tied to Outlook. Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0 will have full calendar support without needing the Lightning add-on. That means a Salesforce add-on to Thunderbird should also support the calendar, perhaps first checking for calendaring's presence so as to not introduce bugs. |
