Allow reporting on Approval History
We are using the approval workflow but need to be able to report on where all records in a given process are (i.e., which step, who is the current approver). Opening up the approval history for any & all records that are going through an approval process would give us this ability. It should be from the point of view of the object looking at the approval history like it was a related list.

If possible, I'd like to have the ability to cull fields from the object (in my case opportunities), to show up in the report. We approve discounts in our opportunities. The staff and our Financial department wishes to see all approvals by given staffers for performance management, discount tracking, troubleshooting and to see the history of approvals for a given client. |

Why can I not do this?
We have our approval process routed to a Queue, and our QA team gets paid on the amount of good Approvals they make. I need the ability to track who has approved what in a specific timeframe. |

Once you start using approval process, you quickly end up with a sudden suprise: I could not find how to create a report on all the instances of a given approval process.
I would like to know all the instances of a process, with their current status (approved, rejected, pending) when, by whom, in which step, since when, etc and a direct link to the approval screen and/or the object in the process... and of course being able to filter on all this. This would enable a real monitoring of the workflow which is currently lacking, unless I missed something. |

It is important to be able to run a report on the Comments field in the approval process, to have a view of the current status of records sent for approval.

Need this feature, as the moment, the only way to know the pending request is getting approval emails or you have the items to approve in the home page.

Approval Reporting
It would be nice to have the ability to report on approvals. Even though there is the "items to approve" list I can place on my homepage, it would be nice to have the ability to report on what approvals are outstanding, what approvals have been denied/approved and how long it took for approvals to be carried out.

History Report for Approval Processes
I've created an Approval Process for our Inside Sales Rep to "hand off" qualified accounts to the Outside Sales Team.
They need to contact the Account and Accept or Reject them as a Qualified Opportunity. I can see the "Pending Approval" report... but there is no Approval History Report available. The inside Sales Rep is Comp'd on the number of Qualfied Accounts that are Accepted. I can see the Approval data is there... there is just no report to access it. |

When will it be possible to report on the approval history? When selecting data to report on, you can select soluton and contract history but not the approval history.

Great idea. This should probably be titled something like "Make approval merge fields available" because they are necessary in workflow field updates, formulas, etc. Also, what does recalling an approval request do to the record? Would be nice if recalled approval requests changed some attribute on the record indicating this in addition to recalling the approval request. |

Agreed. This should include the ability to run statistics such as Average, Minimum, Mean, and Maximum times spent for each approval process, as well as the Average, Minimum, Mean, and Maximum times spent on each approval Step within each process. It would seem logical to locate the bottlenecks in a company's approval process if some processes seem to take too much time to get through. Without the ability to report against Approval history data, this is not possible. |

Being able to report on what is approved and rejected would be great. We use approval process for additional discount requests in the Opportunity object. Having the ability to drill down on what country or sales person is reuestion the most discount or how often would be of huge advantage to management. This is a must have!!! |

We're just about to launch a really important app - which uses Approval Process - and I just realized that there is no reporting, viewing, or anything with regards to the approval steps! This is critical to this process, and a serious shortcoming. Yikes - Salesforce, WAKE UP!!!! I'm really surprised to see no comments from SFDC users.... |

A decent workaround is to have custom fields on the record such as a stage or status that gets updated via approval steps. This is definitely reportable. If you want to report on reasons for rejection, you must have another field on the record that a user can put this on, but be sure the approver can edit the record. |
