Add option to hide currency on reports

Where currencies are reported, the currency symbol is repeated across all figures, often quite unnecessarily. I find this makes for a cluttered layout, where I always strive to create reports which draw the reader's eye to the important figures. Compare the attached screen shots. If the report is in original currency, couldn't that be stated on the header? I'm sure it could if it was in converted currency.
Obviously there are situations where you might want to show the currency, so a toggle on/off might be a good solution.
I would go further and re-suggest a hide zeros toggle too, for even greater clarity (see http://ideas.salesforce.com/article/show/64380/Add_a_hide_zeros_option_to_rep...)

AMartin 06/20/07	Great Idea! It would be even better if we could suppress the extra "currency columns" that are created when a report is exported to Excel.
ttt 06/20/07	How would you know that you'd converted the currency in the report to GBP? Would it be ok if this option was only present when only the converted currency was chosen as a column? If not, the normal currency can be in many currencies and the numbers won't make sense without the currency type indicator.
AMartin 06/20/07	Suppressing the currency indicator or currency column for a converted column -ex. Amount (converted) would be less than ideal. The main complaint about the currency indicators are from managers that don't deal in multiple currencies. Their reports generally don't include the "converted" column options. In fact, instead of the header being "Amount (converted)" could it be "Amount (GBP)". The header would be more meaningful and it would eliminate the need for the Amount converted currency column. Thanks.
Scott_Jorgensen 06/20/07	AMartin has the right idea. Just put the currency in the summary label: Amount (GBP)
WrogWrog 06/21/07	That's the sort of thing I had in mind. I've had another ide where there are multiple currencies in the report. How about hiding any currency indicators that match the user's default currency? That would have the benefit of drawing the user's attendion to the unusual or out-of-ordinary.

Especially when using the Currency (Converted) option - because you know the currency field will always appear in your default currency. The extra columns added in Excel are cumbersome.

sannak Jun 10	The currency columns are a real pain in the exported files. Would be more than great if those could be omitted. I have reports with approx 50 curreny columns which I always need to get rid of as the file with currency columns is to big and not clearly arranged.
seanyj Jul 24	I totally support this request. I ran a matrix report for my boss and the currency values (either GBP or USD) were all over the report. It is unnecessary and my boss indeed went "Whooah, my eyes!". Please can you take all the GBPs or USDs out and make it easier on the reader's eyes. Can it be that difficult? Thanks
jimsulutimaco Aug 28	YES! Even if it can't be removed, at least move to the 1 character symbol. This goes beyonds reports, but also merge templates, etc.
