Scheduled emailing of reports
I'd like SFDC to be able to email Printable View reports on a scheduled basis. For example, instead of our CEO needing to log into SFDC (and needing to pay for a license), I could simply have the system send him daily or weekly reports via email. The reports would be in the existing Printable View format. Otherwise, we have people who spend an inordinate amount of time simply running and sending reports to various managers and executives each week.

Thanks - I have logged a case and asked for this previously, would sure streamline several projects. |

I would like SFDC to email Printable View reports on a scheduled basis to contacts as well. This would enable us to automatically generate and send Support reports to customer contacts. |
|
Jakester 06/08/07 |
I love this idea too, but for future reference it's probably not best to point out to Salesforce how this would help you *not* pay for another license... not exactly the best spin to put on the request! :P |
|
LogoJon 06/11/07 |
Right. The issue isn't purchasing another license. Our CEO has a license, but wants to have dashboards emailed to the exec team weekly. |
|
JasperMattG 06/12/07 |
Jasper4Salesforce provides this functionality now. Feel free to install it from the AppExchange and try it out. This is a great feature to make sure that your team is looking at the same reports for those weekly meetings. Reports can be generated on a schedule and distributed to anyone with an email address or saved within Jasper4Salesforce for anyone to log in and view. Matt JasperSoft |

This would be extremely helpful with our organization as well. |
|
saariko 06/18/07 |
I love this idea. It should be implemented and not because it will save a license or two. If you want to save licenses, you will find your ways. This is simply to improve the benefits and productivity of the teams that are not the core users of the system. |
|
msnowden213 06/19/07 |
I agree, it's not so much about saving money and not having additional licenses, but rather gaining more feedback and momentum with the tool, in the long run, something like this would actually benefit and increase licenses because the executive team would truly be able to see the potential. Not to mention for meetings, sales newsletters, etc., this information and having it automatically generated on a schedule could certainly help to improve sales and see where the downfalls are. |
|
mightyeagle 06/21/07 |
A feature enhancement I requested a couple of years ago. Finally, we may actually get this? |

Please? |

It would also be nice to schedule reports for people other than managers. I would like to see the Opportunity Update Reminders be setup for all users and not just managers. |
|
a0v30000000E3K9AAK 06/29/07 |
Seems like a simple way would be to put the url of the dashboard(s) or reports the CEO/anyone who has a license wants to see in a scheduled email alert possibly triggered by workflow. Once the user clicks the link in the email the dashboard would be displayed (if the user is not logged in to Salesforce the login page would first be presented, then directly taken to the dashboard. Viewing the dashboard in Salesforce would also provide the user with the opportunity to take a detailed look at the underlying report and data if there was something in the dashboard they were interested in learning more detail about. |
|
a0v30000000E3K9AAK 06/29/07 |
You could also put a shortcut with the link on the user's PC that tkaes them directly to the dashboard at thier convenience. |
|
Bob_Osborne 07/05/07 |
I would imagine that Crystal Reports for Salesforce would provide similar functionality. |
|
btll 07/06/07 |
Great idea. When will it be ready? |
|
Vixen 07/16/07 |
This is a really important feature... it's not about saving licences at all. At my company, due to the number of user groups who are competitive to each other (go figure!), this would allow for opps to be viewed over a wider group as we see fit for them to have access. It avoids the all or nothing solution. |
|
Ricsta 07/27/07 |
Its Friday afternoon, its 4.30pm, your boss has just been emailed his automated customised weekly report - jobs in, closed, invoiced, stuck, product, profits, etc. 15 mins later your boss calls to to say thanks and have a good weekend. Beautiful!! As soon as possible please. |
|
yeslater 07/28/07 |
I need to send daily reports to my boss as well as a weekly one. This feature would be an absolute time-saving wonder. Please bring it live ASAP. |
|

I would like to see this also include dashboards that can be emailed and visible on a Blackberry or Palm. |

Scheduler for automated report generation
I want to generate a report about all open cases of our group every Monday morning. I would like to have a kind of scheduler (like crontab in UNIX), which is able to run a report and export results as excel sheet automatically.
|
|
tony_alves 09/04/07 |
99.5% of executives at large companies login to email about twice a week. The key here is to email these reports to his/her assistant for printing and delivery. Making it easy for communication. This is a must have for all levels of the company. Nice one guys. |
|
jisaac 09/06/07 |
One of the App Exchange vendors is testing this right now. AppExtremes out of Colorado - they have a greate Merge product and have developed a super Report Scheduling product that does just what you asked for. I think they are going to go live with it at DreamForce. |
|
Lister 09/07/07 |
Great Idea! Hopefully this is something that they will implement.... |
|
CongaMark 09/15/07 |
It's live now. Based on everyone's comments, we created Conga Courier over the summer and it's now fully-certified and up on the AppExchange with a full free trial, etc. Come see it in the AppExtremes booth at Dreamforce (#232) and let us know what you think! Hope you like it! |
|
joeghiskhan 09/26/07 |
Until I get a reliable way to do this I'm going to end up pulling data from sales force and pushing it into SQL server so that I can create SSRS reports that will email automattically :( |
|
josht 09/28/07 |
I have always been surprised that this functionality does not exist. We also use a product called OpenAir and IMO it is not as good as Salesforce functionality wise yet in their reporting module you can schedule any report to be ran and emailed at anytime. You also have the option of the report being emailed in excel format or pdf. I have to weekly run 40+ reports for our management team and send those to the admin assistant to be printed out. It would save me so much time to just schedule them to be emailed to her without me having to run them all. |
|
paulturner 10/05/07 |
Hi. I just logged a case on this too and was told it isn't available. I am very suprised. Everyone in my company has a licence, so this is not a money issue. And anyway, presently I am pulling the data into excel and emailing it. |
|
tommys 10/24/07 |
Please implement this! Charge us on a per report basis if you are worried about abuse of this feature. Thanks! |

Automated Export
Right now we rely on individuals to monitor monthly reports, although in order to minimize human error and delays we would like the option automate reports.
Example; It would be ideal to setup a report (monthly, every two months, quarterly etc..) to automatically export (via Excel) to selected email addresses. Benefits; Staff reduction On time, every time. Eliminate errors. |

Just wanted to let you know that Cloud9 Analytics has a free product called Messenger that sends free performance reports to your email or Blackberry based on your Salesforce.com data. The "What's Changed" report alerts you to changes to forecast, pipeline, pipeline coverage, and closed/won deals. Customization is also available. Product Info is here: http://www.cloud9analytics.com/cloud9-messenger.html< just introduced our products at Dreamforce in September. Pleased to be here! Hello Cat, I'd love to try out the messenger tool but there seems to be a problem with the free registration page at https://www.cloud9analytics.com/register-messenger.html< |

Hi Ctrax: My apologies. You pinged during a server upgrade. BTW, here's a better link: http://www.cloud9messenger.com. Thanks! |

Would love to have this capability. Does anyone have an idea of whether the folks at Salesforce.com will integrate this feature? Thanks! |

AppExtremes on the AppExchange has created a product called Conga Courier that allows you to schedule reports to run and be distributed to any email address you want. It works beautifully. I have reports going to key management every day. |
|
josht Jan 1 |
In order to use Conga Courier I would need the 160 dollar a month plan. Unfortunately it would be hard for me to get my company to pay that. I really think this functionality should be built in. Come on Salesforce, hook us up! |
|
stubedo Jan 10 |
Apparently, this is not in the next Release, only the scheduling to Dashboard refreshes. We need scheduling of reports!!! |
|
prabs Jan 24 |
This should be implemented as a key feature with the ability select the mail template. |
|
twellman Feb 11 |
If we can schedule a Dashboard refresh and send that, why not a report!! Seems like this should be an elementary function at this stage with SFDC. |
|
justinf Feb 22 |
This is functionality which should be intrinsic to a CRM system and I am suprised (once again) that what I would cosider core functionality is just not there. Does anyone have a workaround? |
|
tz Feb 29 |
This feature would be very helpful! |

We are an Appexchange partner that develops and markets a product called Workflow Optimizer providing on-demand workflow management. The scheduled emailing of reports could be easily and quickly configured using our application. WORKFLOW OPTIMIZER enables you to configure and execute powerful workflow, beyond what is possible in Salesforce today. You can build workflow that accesses multiple objects, runs multiple actions and has no setup limitations. This feature is obviously much needed and appears to have many promotions. Does anyone know if this forum actually works in terms of influencing SFDC development? |
|
SalesOps Mar 11 |
I agree, this is sorely needed. With all due respect to the third-party providers who have chimed in to say they can help with this, to me this seems like a very basic function that SFDC should and could provide. |
|
Scott_Jorgensen Mar 13 |
stevedatalliance: This forum (the IdeaExchange) is very influential with salesforce.com product development. A very large number of popular ideas from the community are included in each release of the product because their relative priority can be measured and qualified through the voting and comments. As an example, here are the ideas that were part of the Spring '08 release: http://ideas.salesforce.com/popular/release_spring_08 |
|
WrogWrog Mar 14 |
Scott: The trouble is that IdeaExchange is tuned to focus on recent ideas, and older ideas that have gathered a large number of votes over a longer period drop to the bottom of lists, fall outside of half-life criteria etc. Another effect of this is that people keep adding new ideas which duplicate old ones, blurring the voting and giving you guys extra work in merging them (at least, I HOPE that you guys merge duplicate ideas as much as possible). As users, we cannot see the "100 most voted for" ideas. We cannot see a simple list of those which are under consideration, planned for release etc. We cannot filter out items which have already been delivered. We cannot control the sort sequence in which lists of ideas appear (descending number of votes or submission date would be a start). The fact that it is so hard to navigate the millions of ideas sometimes looks like Salesforce is keeping things blurred. Hence it is difficult for stevedatalliance to see why this idea with over 1000 votes and 45 comments over 9 months has not received a single comment from Salesforce until now, and you are still not indicating whether 1000 votes is enough for you to consider delivering the idea. Don't get me wrong, I think IdeaExchange (and Salesforce itself) is fantastic, but I think you are victims of your own success, and you need to make it clear what your policies are about responding to our ideas. |

This would be a great feature to have on SFDC...something which most of our customers have asked for. Any ideas on when can we expect this to be available in SFDC? |
|
DarrenC Mar 31 |
Because people love it when partners chime in, I thought I'd let you know that LucidEra customers are now able to schedule and email interactive reports on data from Salesforce that may or may not be integrated and enriched with spreadsheet and accounting (ERP) data. You can check out a brief demo here: http://www.lucidera.com/resources/on_line_demo.php< |

html email reports
I do mass email blasts for my organization and unfortunately I am the only one (since I sent the emails) who can run the "Opened Email Report". It would be nice to have the other users run the report that I created when they want an update on who's viewed the email.

How many votes is it going to take to get this implemented? Do any Salesforce staff want to comment on their progress towards making this happen? |
|
bigplc Apr 30 |
You would think this feature would come as standard? The email and reporting capacities are in place. |
|
tt Apr 30 |
Email and reporting are in place, however we need to do some backend work to make sure we don't overload the servers when refreshing many reports. This involves building the software, but also determining what the limits can safely be on refreshes. |

This has been a long asked for item (along with automated scheduled Dashboards). It would increase user satisfaction and reduce extra work on the part of the CRM Support team. MRL |

This is a great idea! My "email weekly report" list keeps getting longer and longer, in addition to all the reminders in my calendar to send them out. |
|
phillv Jul 23 |
This should be a built in feature. I'm frankly tired of being pointed to the App Exchange whenever I ask for a feature that hasn't been implemented. Hopefully this will come soon. |
|
michaelforce Aug 1 |
I'd like to see this implemented, but if you put yourself in salesforce.com's shoes its a tough call because while it would make a lot of customers happy, it would also reduce the number of licenses required for most customers. |
|
gribis Aug 4 |
We are getting various requests from within the org for scheduled email reports. Currenly, managers perform the "scheduled report" and email function. This is little less than ideal. |
|
jiji Aug 6 |
This is a basic need. Please make this happen. |

This would assist my company hugely in our efforts to report on Sales Accuracy. Currently, we rely on Outlook to remind us to run Opportunity Reports on the first and last day of every month so we can compare our forecast to actual sales closed/won. |

This is a must, even better with: 1. The ability to chose as HTML or exell attachement to email. 2. the ability to send to your desire email recipient(s), group, profile, case contact or primary contact of account. We all wanted keep us posted with progress |

|
Jakester Aug 28 |
Hey!! This is more great news! I thought that you were done adding features to Winter. Sweet! |
|
tt Sep 3 |
I was out for 2 weeks, I missed the deadline, so mine are late. |
|
ragin_edwards Sep 5 |
The automatic email is already available through dashboards! The only issue is that if someone doesn't have a login they won't be able to drill down. I wonder why SF didn't say this already? For those who want to do this now (except for the printable view) all you have to do is set up your dashboards and have the dashboard sent (the dashboards are connected to reports). |
|
Jakester Sep 5 |
Maybe because people want to email reports and not dashboards? |
|
atchoum1979 Sep 8 |
I just called tech support to find how to create scheduled reports to be sent by email to each of my sales guys. (i.e. how many leads they have assigned to them, how many they've looked at etc). I want it to go out weekly. Unfortunately the tech support guy told me it's not an available feature. I wonder why as this could greatly help our teams. Especially for those who don't like using the system too much. Can anyone tell me if there is a workaround for this or if the new winter release will finally solve this problem, which a lot of you seem to have as well? |
|
Jakester Sep 8 |
This feature will be released in October (the specific date depends on which site you're on). That's why it says, in the upper-left corner of the idea, highlighted in yellow, "Coming in Winter '09". |

radliberty Sep 30 |
Schedule and Email Reports is a fantastic feature. can we schedule and email reports on a hourly basis. basically email the report every hour? |
|
tt Sep 30 |
The number of hours available and the number of slots per hour is linked to the edition. For editions with less than one slot per hour, the hours available are linked to the instance (i.e. whether you are in Europe, Asia or America) |
|
radliberty Oct 8 |
any ideas if we can schedule the same report several times per day? maybe i want to schedule email report every hour? |
|
tt Oct 8 |
The scheduling of reports works the same as dashboards. You can't have more than 1 schedule on a report, and schedules send out at most once a day. So you can't get a single report to send out every hour. You can make 12 reports, and set each one to send every hour between 8am and 8pm. But there are slot limitations as with the dashboards - for instance, Professional Edition customers get 3 slots to send email per day, Enterprise get one report schedule slot per hour, for all hours, and Unlimited get 2 schedule slots per hour for all hours of the day. |
