Base code when Overriding standard buttons

When customizing the functionality of a standard button in SFDC, it would be nice if the original code for that button would be available as a starting point. That way when I only want to make 1 small change in the way that it works, I don't have to re-create the complete functionality of the button.

steve_andersen 04/30/07	This is coming with Apex.
Heros 05/01/07	I really would like this. I want to be able to override the Log a Call button and make buttons that are similar but do not autofill Call but autofills something else. I almost have it created but I cannot get it so that it will autofill the record into the correct spot.
