Increase number of tabs and s-controls for EE and PE

PE gives 10 custom tabs and 15 s-controls
EE gives 25 custom tabs and 25 s-controls
Custom object tabs and webtabs are counted as Tab

Any app from the appExchange uses already a couple of tabs and often some s-controls. We are now getting closer to our limit and are not able to evaluate some of the apps we are interested in.

I like the power of the s-controls and it is absolutely great what is possible to build within SFDC, but the limit on tabs and s-controls should be increased to be able to maximise the potential of appExchange and flexibility of customisation of SFDC.

We are on EE with 1000+ licences.
Would appreciate a review of this limit.
E.g. Defined per band per Edition AND # licences.

Q: How many tabs / s-controls would you use in your org?

EnerNOC4GreenEnergy 03/27/07	The pricing features/comparison model between EE and UE shows that diskspace has an optional incremental price above standard per-license amounts, optional sandbox, optional premier support. We pay for what we need and where we find value. The pricing model should include the option of buying incrementally more tabs, for as the original poster indicated, we too are already hiting the wall on 25 custom tabs because we have embraced building s-Controls and subscribing to appExchange partner offerings. If we can't deploy AppExchange solutions because we've run out of tabs (and can't acquire more without a huge leap that includes functionality like mobile that we may not need at all), you've defeated the purpose of a partner marketplace for solutions.
James_McGill 04/02/07	I agree. Why can we not buy additional tabs or s-controls. If you would like the AppExchange to continue to be the "iTunes of Business Software" then you must also enable iTunes flexibility and let users license additional tabs instead of requiring a massive increase in price (from EE to UE). This prevents me from making SFDC the business engine in our business and strikes me as a counter-productive and cynical sales exercise.
CKZhou Mar 5	Merged Idea originally posted Mar 4 increase the limit on custom tabs in Enterprise Edition Hi, from the beginning, EE customers can create upto 25 custom tabs, with the growth of application of app exchange, this limit has never been increased. Please increase this limit to 50 or 100, as there are so many application from app exchange out there. SFDC partners, please also vote for this idea for your potential cusomers.

It seems there is another intermediate step that could be put in between so that Customers like myself, can take advantage of the vast apps on AppExchange without doubling our cost to get more tabs. Customers should have some sort of choice to pay for a 10 pack of tabs and Apps or something like this. I would be willing to talk to anyone about this option.

08/9/2007_18:49 Mar 7	I agree with this. I think the limits that Salesforce imposes really limits our ability to use the power of the Salesforce platform. I would be in favor of buying more tabs/s-controls if they were priced fairly and they would give you increments of ten additional tabs. So lets say for ten additional dollars per month per user I could get 10 more tabs and 10 more s-controls. Or maybe for ten additional dollars per month per user I get my choice of either ten extra tabs or ten extra s-controls. My other thought is have Salesforce changes their policy so that AppExchange Apps tabs don't count toward the 25 custom tab limit (i.e., AppExchange Tabs would not be considered custom tabs).
rpr2 Mar 10	I like the idea posted by "08/09/2007_18:49" of tying incremental tabs into the adoption of AppExchange products. 25 tabs for our own customizations would work fine, along with the addition of tabs for things that we download. Once we get beyond 25 tabs for our own customizations, considering upgrading to UE would be more reasonable for us.
Oliv Apr 16	It makes no sense to limit the tabs like this in SFDC. Not good for users, not good for partners and finally not good for SFDC... If the SFDC platform is as robust as claimed, these limits have to increase to reflect the ecosystem expansion of SFDC.
