I am in favor of Concept 2 as it carries through the SalesForce Brand into other product areas. Concept 1 is too bulky and the current version tends to loose some of the SFDC identity |

THINK LOGICALLY AND MAKE IT SIMPLE FOR ALL OF US. Link the name and url in a predictable manner. This is only going to get more complex not less so how about this? Company Name = salesforce Product Category Name = Applications or Platform or Community or Exchange or Ideas Product Family Name = Sales Force Automation (SFA) or PRM or Marketing Automation (MA) or Service & Support (S&S) etc. Product Name = Unlimited, Enterprise, Professional, Team, Personal Product Version = a number 3.3 so.... the NAME of the products would be ala Company Name / Product Category Name / Product Family Name / Product Name / Version Salesforce Applications SFA Unlimited Edition V3.3 the URL for information or tree structures(browsing) or even accessing the products would be http://www.salesforce.com/applications/sfa/unlimitededition/ This is structured, logical, flexible, cheap and endures across paper and screen |

While I had thought this was my favorite, I think dropping the Apex platform would be short-sighted and limiting. Salesforce Exchange (sans App) and Salesforce Community get ambiguously confusing--especially since I presume Idea Exchange would fall under Community. We might as well collapse Community into Salesforce Exchange... though I think AppExchange is worthy of brand status. Summary: Salesforce Applications, Apex platform, Salesforce AppExchange, and Salesforce Community. Good visual branding on this. (See http://ideas.salesforce.com/article/show/64379 for my thoughts on type treatment for the Apex platform.) |

Hate to be heretical here but you have a great platform, but there are applications that we can now create that are not sales platforms thus it is confusing to have to enter a web interface with the words Salesforce all over the screen. Have you considered an interface that could be branded in everyway by the company that owns the customized platorm? They can call it the Widget Wotsit or whatever, sure by all means have a "powered by Salesforce" logo bottom right but all users need to know is that they are going to start using Widget Wotsit. We created a community communications system for contacting community organziations, might have been a parent teacher asscoiation PTA communications system, the point is it isn't sales. The connotation "sales" upsets some people. Make that branding / mindset change and the platform simply becomes a way of working with others whether you are in sales, a church group, or you run the local youth socccer team. |
