Clone Activities

Ability to clone an activity.

LucBaart 03/21/07	easy ... just add this param behind your URL, preferrably though a custom button or custom link: "/e?clone=1". The "/e" stands for the standard edit action, the retURL param can also be added as in "/e?clone=1&retURL=%2F{id}".

LucBaart 03/23/07	Sure. In the setup area of the application, go to 'Customize' - 'Activities' and then depending on whether you want this button on Tasks or Events (or both) got to 'Tasks Buttons and Links' and/or 'Events buttons and Links'. At the bottom you have 'Custom Buttons and Links' and you click on 'New'. Give it a label and name "Clone", select the 'Detail Page Button' display type, select the Behaviour you want (preferably existing window WITH sidebar) and leave the Content Source to 'URL' the formula looks like this: /{!Task.Id}/e?clone=1&retURL=%2F{!Task.Id}&isdtp=mn All you need to do now is add it to the Page Layout - Button Section and you're all set.

mtlcanuck 08/30/07	I concur Alex. Activities need to be more of a focus for future releases. Activities are what our reps spend their days doing. SFDC should make adding activities as quick a process as possible because at the end of the day we need our people in the field selling not doing paper work.
greatidea 09/14/07	Should indeed be possible to clone activities! Especially since it looks like one is able to if looking at the preview on the page layout edit page. After selecting all standard buttons I want, saving and and then clicking the preview button, my selection matches the preview, but not the saved page layout. Seems more like a bug to me than a missing feature.. Thanks for the workaround, at least that will help me for now.

scotty Mar 18	Can someone provide information on doing this as a save and clone. We use many custom fields and only one data element may require changing once the record is saved. I woould like to utilize save and clone, rather than having to get back into the saved record multiple times.
joyd Apr 4	I found this in the Help: Q - Why can I clone some events but not others? A - Only Events with Invitees listed can be cloned. All other Events cannot. --- This seems to answer the problem of why, for Events, there is a Clone button available and showing on the Page Layout, but not when you are on an actual Event. --- I'd really like Clone to work too. I'll be trying the custom button listed above - thanks!
mtlcanuck Apr 21	All: Please go and vote for my IDEA to make the need for the Clone button unnessary. Multiple Contacts to be allowed on one activity, be it a task or event! Please!
Cheryl Apr 23	Just had this request from a user. Would have liked to have it as standard feature. But THANKS so much for posting the code to create my own clone button. Already implemented it. Love it!
joyd Apr 23	Does anyone else's Clone button (using the above code) put you into a smaller-size font? It's really odd and I have no idea why it looks so strange when you click on the Clone button :-\
