Customize "Add Products" wizard on Opportunities

It would be great if the "Add Products" wizard on new Opportunities could be customized in several different ways.

First, it would be great if we could modify some of the parameters of the "Add Products" page such as the default list criteria and number of products displayed per page. Some sales people want to see a lot more products at once, and also want to have different default sorting and filtering criteria tied to their profiles and/or roles.

It would also be great if we could condense the "Add Products" wizard from 2 pages down to one. When some sales people select the products, they also want to be able to enter the quantities for those products on the same page. Perhaps there could be an option for administrators to choose between 2 steps or 1 step for adding Opportunity Line Items.

The entire wizard could probably be made more interactive and more "Web 2.0ish" Having more administrative control over the page layouts would enable administrators to make the workflow much more efficient for their SFA users.

hahluwalia 02/22/07	Great ideas. We are looking into improving the user experience for adding products to opportunities. As a first step, we will be releasing a new product selection UI in our PRM offering shortly. This UI will combine pricebook selection, product selection, and price/quantity selection - all in one screen. It will also allow you to scope the product list by product family. Our plan is to have a similar wizard available in the core application in the future. Also, in Summer '07 we are planning to allow end users to customize the search result columns that appear on the product selection page. Additional ideas are welcome.
AlexCRMmanager 02/28/07	Thanks hahluwalia! Those improvements sound good, and we will look forward to seeing them implemented. I hope that you are able to include some of the customization that I have requested in my original post. Ideally, we would also like to have a "Quick Products" popup where sales reps could type in some common SKUs and quantities and have them quickly added to the opportunity, instead of having to search a large product database for a few common items and add them through the current multi-step process.
AMartin 05/01/07	Hi, I would love to have the ability to schedule a product at the same time as it gets added to an opportunity. Having to individually schedule products after they've been added to the opportunity is just too tedious a process.
415adminuser 11/15/07	We really need to be able to customize the add products page, after you've selected your product. We have a lot of line specific information that needs to be included as you add the product; right now, we have to go back and edit the line after the fact, which is not increasing adoption AT ALL!
Tess Mar 12	It is difficult to find the product that you want to add to your opportunity. Different views of the price books would be ideal. Create your own view, recently used products view, etc...
TheBoot Mar 17	I would like to be able to shorten the length on the entry spaces in the multi-line layout. I have so many fields that you have to scroll across the page to see them all. It's nice to be able to edit multiple products at the same time. It would REALLY help us if you could edit the Line item fields from the related list. Because of the way we forecast, I need my users to to have access to 4 or 6 input fields AND be able to view the Total Price field at the same time. This field does not show up on the Multi-Line layout because it is a calculated field. But if they could edit the line items in the related list, this would work great. I agree with the scheduling part. That is too many screens deep for sales reps to go. They won't do it.
AlexCRMmanager Apr 2	I'm still getting requests from our clients about finding a way to make this part of the application more user-friendly. Can the SFDC Product Managers give us any update on this idea?
Laurent Jul 1	Many of our user are also requesting a "clone" button to be available from the product list. Could you consider this request as a possible enahncement for next salesforce release ?
