A Lockbox to share data securely with your business partners
What if you could use Salesforce.com to securely share data and business processes with other companies who use Salesforce.com to manage their customer relationships?
Your business processes span multiple companies, whether they are partners, suppliers or customers. However, your systems are still stuck within your firewall and are unable to keep up with your evolving business relationships. You need your applications to support your whole business including the work of your partners. For example, what if you could share leads with partners and receive real-time updates on those leads all without anyone having to work in someone else’s environment?
Imagine a Lockbox shared across multiple organizations where shared records and updates to those records can be securely exchanged on the basis of rules defined inside your Salesforce.com setup.
Share your ideas on how a feature like a lockbox could be used to manage data and business processes across organizational boundaries.

I am a service vendor. I sometimes have customers who use salesforce, some who do not. In the latter case, I will manage my own list of contacts, accounts, whether internal in my customer's organization, or external in his sales or after-sales network. In the former case, all this information is already in my customer's organization : I just need to be able to link stuff from his environment to mine. Some of my requirements are the following : - search for contacts and accounts which I am allowed to see, - notify the owners of this data if any changes need to be made to things such as phone, address which would obviously be owned by my customer but readable by me - I would like to be able to add my own attributes or relations or subtypes to those of my customer, but in my organization : in this case, I would own those extension (authorized by my customer), I could make changes, but he could see that data (read-only, for certain user profiles) - workflows would need to be able to cross the boundaries of organizations - extra services could be added like VOIP calls, chatting and web conferencing, straight in salesforce.com since both ends would be hosted by salesforce |

Are you interested in participating in our beta program? Do you have a partner in mind that you would want to work with? |

I have a partner in mind, but I need to know a bit more about impacts of such an implementation on our way of working with the partner : we do not want him to have any visibility on our work, since we are working for him in the name of another ... Getting authorizations to share this or that data would not be a problem, because we already have a user account in his environment; ideally, it would be nice if we could go on working in a lockbox simply with this user account. But I suppose the partner would have to activate certain things on his side. Maybe not, since he has already given us access to what he wants to show us and let us update : we have a specific user profile for our account. Keep me posted, Rup PS : you can write to me directly using my email address; as a salesforce.com guy, I suppose you can get hold of it. |

We are an Appexchange partner that develops and markets a solution, Optimizer, providing on-demand business process management. As you described we also have recognised that an entity works within a business network of stakeholders that need to share information as part of a series of end to end business processes. We refer to this environment as an Enterprise Application Hub. Optimizer enables this business network to be deployed across stake-holders using only Salesforce applications or Salesforce and other enterprise applications like Oracle, SAP etc. See our web-site at www.synchosoft.com and click first on the Optimizer tab and then the first link on that page. We would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further. Regards The synchosoft.com team |
