Once I'm into my instance of salesforce.com, which I'm paying a lot of money to use, I shouldn't have to see any more ads. |
|
NETxCK 11/08/06 |
I'm ok if they use it for announcing new functionality / releases but these ads for unlimited edition are obnoxious and intrusive for a product we pay thousands of dollars to use. |
|
WrogWrog 11/09/06 |
I'd go further and request that ANYTHING above the tabs is removed - the applications dropdown could go elsewhere and the links for setup, support etc too. My only real criticism of the look and feel of SFDC is that there is far too much wasted screen realestate, which was made worse by the makeover a year or so ago. I have users who, for various reasons, are still on 800x600 screens and SFDC is barely useable. The fixed left hand taskbar takes up 1/3 of the screen! Lioke Microsoft, there is an assumption that all users are on the latest kit...... |

dukesbury 11/09/06 |
NETxCK: exactly what I was thinking... it's like using a program during trial: adds, ok, no problem. Paying a subscription fee: NO banners. Same system as in shareware, you pay: no banner, you don't: banners. |

Ads on the login page are tolerable, but like everyone else said - I shouldn't have to see ads inside of the application. My organization pays enough to use the app that our users shouldn't have ads sliding down while they are trying to work. |
|
fjw 11/09/06 |
My company has over 2000 licenses and I really don't feel like having to field requests for some ad that they saw while using the system. This is worse than when executives read airplane magazines. |
|
albackore 11/09/06 |
As WrogWrog just said: I'd go further and request that ANYTHING above the tabs is removed Even with 19" monitors, screen real estate is a premium and we should do everything in our control to minimize the "junk" (or unwanted) items and replace them with usable items. Efficiency - anyone ever heard of that one? :P |

Couldn't agree more. Ads are understandable during trial period, but once you're forking out the $$, ads should stop. Also, 99% of the users who see the ads are not the decision makers, and most don't know what all these ads mean anyway. It's all annoying and creates confusion. |

It's actually a very cool feature... if we could use it post "our" relevant company news to our user base instead of Salesforce new and ads. More banner adds for Salesforce are a bit overkill. Maybe just for Admins or some other limitation to make the impact more manageable. |
|
millheif 11/13/06 |
Indeed, it IS a very cool feature but it is totally inappropriate to be advertising inside the logged in space. I have already lost a few users due to this. |
|
roscher76 11/14/06 |
Fully agree with everything above, screenspace is precious and shouldn't be wasted. Very annoying indeed!! |
|
SFtester 11/14/06 |
If you want to disable this permanently, please contact support or your CSM and we can help you do this. |

I am a paying customer. GET THESE ADS OFF MY SCREEN. If I'm ever in a bar and meet the arrogant product manager that thought these up, he will not be receiving a drink from me! |
|
Aliza 11/17/06 |
I use FireFox, and find that the Adblock Plus add-on available for free from http://adblockplus.org/en/ neatly blocks out all kinds of intrusive advertising. (It sometimes needs tuning to keep it from blocking legitimate screen elements -- for example, my WebMail application has a frame named "banner.html' that I had to whitelist.) |
|
Aliza 11/21/06 |
SFtester: my site admin says that he's had the banner ads turned off but I still get sfdc advertising. Y'know, I'm just a user, taking up my time and attention (as opposed to people who have budget authority) with ads for your products is really targeting the wrong audience, as well as generating negative user experience. |
|
Penny 11/30/06 |
Absolutely - get rid of them. They are a total pain - confuse users. If I want to know what salesforce are up to, I come to ideas.exchange! |
|
WCC 12/01/06 |
Yes! Please go away. Paying too much money to see ads! |
|
Arod 12/11/06 |
I know your marketing people will probably not like it, but get rid of those things please (or at least let us turn them off)!!! |
|
HRearden 12/15/06 |
We'd actually love to be able to edit these banners to give import alerts to our teams (equipment outages and the such). |

Remove dropdown Salesforce advertising on logon
Remove dropdown Salesforce advertising on logon
It would be really great if we could disable this drop-down organisational wide. I am all for IT managers and those related to the Salesforce implementation knowing what new features are available. However for most people this advertising is an irrelevant, poorly targeted and inappropriate diversion of either their attention and/or their time and effort. And we are having to handle queries and complaints about it. My suggestion is that this feature has an on off in the same vein as the Administration newsletter under user detail. |

"It's actually a very cool feature... if we could use it post "our" relevant company news to our user base instead of Salesforce new and ads. More banner adds for Salesforce are a bit overkill. Maybe just for Admins or some other limitation to make the impact more manageable." - THoopfer I completely agree with you... ideally it would be nice to provide the option to display either NONE or a CUSTOM banner... Or even tie them into the alarms... SalesForce is a great product, however until this conflict of interest is resolved I find it hard to bring myself to suggest salesforce.com as a CRM solution to my clients. If SalesForce.com needs to advertise so badly, i'll let them post advertisements on my site for free - www.FreeClassifiedListings.com Seriously... my display real estate is too valuable and I would prefer controlling the content we feed to our employees... Please hear our cries... |

I agree with Thoopfer "It's actually a very cool feature... if we could use it post "our" relevant company news to our user base instead of Salesforce new and ads. Banners are hitting everyone and should be directed at a select market (admins, decision makers). My users get very annoyed! |

Salesforce released an application this morning on the AppExchange called "Saw Banners Be Gone v1.0" to remove the moving banner advertisements. Here is the link: http://www.salesforce.com/appexchange/detail_overview.jsp?id=a0330000002ghL4AAI< the world rejoiced. |

If you are interesed in another example of over-the-top Salesforce.com ads being forced upon you, check out this Idea Exchange item on e-mail invitations using the Salesforce.com calendar. http://ideas.salesforce.com/article/show/25898 (Customizing the Invitation for an Event). |

Call the customer support line and ask to have it removed |
|
brailm 07/25/07 |
Actually, I'd like to be able to post my own messages there. |
|
CarlingatSED 09/25/07 |
Yeah, just for admins would be fine. I don't want my users to be subjected to this banner ad torture anymore! |

Changed status to Delivered. |

I suppose when Visual Force comes out it would be possible to get rid of the junk we are subjected to. Can someone confirm this possibility? I don't know much about Visual Force yet. |
