Improved HTML email editor
The HTML email editor in SFDC is very basic. Images cannot be aligned, the right-click menu does not work properly, etc. Improving the HTML email editors in SFDC would enable more customized e-mails and even newsletter to be sent via SFDC.

There are lots of great HTML editors out there. Let's get one that works better and even lets you look at and modify the HTML if you so choose. |

Sometimes basic is good, but HTML editing in SF is way too "basic." the sooner the better! |

We deliver a web-based application and use a component called eWebEditPro from Ektron (www.ektron.com) It's excellent. We've been using it for years. Our typically user is not computer-savvy and they are successfully editing HTML (although they don't know it) through this WYSIWYG editor. Easy to implement. We searched far and wide at the time and found these guys to be the best. |

Great, let's replace SFDC's built-in editor with it. ;) |

There are other open-source WYSIWYG editors out there, from FckEditor to Kupu and others. It would make sense for SFDC to leverage/license existing technology... http://www.google.com/search?q=wysiwyg+html+editor |

UPDATE THE HTML TEMPLATE EDITOR
I find the template eidtor really hard work and please let me know if anybody knows of a way to create html templates outside SF.com and "Copy/Paste" into the editor without loosing format, images etc.
Are there any plans to update this facility in future release? I use SF.com to run eblasts such as newsletters and product launches etc. and creating these with a mix of text and images is like pulling teeth. Correct me if I'm wrong but I have found it impossible to change the font sometimes and when you do, you can't see it in edit view. Images can only be positioned in the left had margin and not moved around the text or pushed to the right. All input and help would be appreciated. Thanks Annie |

I've used SFDC since 2002, complained about this since that year. I agree with you. This is one of the most clumsy parts of SFDC.

FCKEditor as default HTML editor in Salesforce.com
It would be nice to have the Salesforce HTML editor substituted with the powerful FCKEditor - http://www.fckeditor.net

HTML Text Editor on Comment & Large Text Fields
I would love to have HTML text editing features available in comment & large text fields. This would allow people to highlight, bold, bullet, color text in notes to make text stand out more. I would also like the comment field to display larger in the edit mode. As a best practice I like to take my notes directly in the system, if I am taking a lot of notes it is hard to see everything in the small box today.

It would be great to allow our users the ability to highlight important text within a large text field, as well as within Activities (comments field). This would provided extreme benefits to our users.

I'm realy amased about the low votes on this really urgent needed enhancments. Copy paste from f.e. Word leads to horrible results, even marking all text in an Email and choose one font and one size gives you sometimes (weired enough) different sizes and fonts in one Email. Please update the html. Editor as soon as possible. Especially when it comes to CI and stuff our Marketing tema is really anoyed by this |

Email marketing/communication is such an important part of CRM that it's crazy not to have a better tool in the system. |

I have a issue that I believe is related to this. We need to have the custom/html picture capability, but with better margin control. At this time my letterhead/template with the image forces a pretty extreme centering of the email body....and using the straight html template makes for good margins, but the user cannot edit the email after selecting the template....Not sure if this is exactly what this idea refers to, but having a better template editor is part of it. |
