Convert Lead page customization
When converting a lead, it would be nice if we had the ability to customize the lead conversion page.
Our business process dictates that the Opportunity is not created until after the conversion process and it would be great if we could default the "do not create a new opportunity upon conversion" to checked or remove it altogether from the process.
Additionally if we can enforce the attach to existing policy as opposed to create new OR attach, it would greatly increase data quality.

Yesh, it would be great to add products, pick which account, contact and opportunity fields show, add campaigns, execute workflow and territory management and provide more robust account/contact matching. |

Absolutely... just give me the opportunity to control the default on the checkbox! |

Our sales team sells for several divisions within our company and each wants to track somewhat different information so we've created different record types to accomodate these needs. It would be a time saving step if the user could select the appropriate record type for both account and opportunity on the conversion page. |

Batch convert (i.e.10 leads same company) would be great too, assign priority to each member to be converted. |

It would also be great to remove the task information section which by the way looks silly. The fields are marked as mandatory but they are kind of half-half. |

We don't allow our reps to "Delete" Opportunities for obvious reasons. The problem with this lead conversion process and not being able default that checkbox checked is that they constantly accidentally create new Opportunities when converting leads, and I have to go in and delete them all the time. It's rare that our reps would EVER create a new Opportunity from a lead, so PLEASE allow us to control the default on that checkbox! |

It would also be nice if the lead record type became the new account's record type as default. |

I'm trying to add in a simple text box for an "Additional Details" section that would be emailed along with the link to the converted account/contact so that the Director of our Inside Sales team can describe any items that may not be in the lead screen. Any ideas? I am looking for the raw code for the ConvertLead.jsp so that I can potentially add in this text box. |

I'm working with a small non-profit where everybody does everything; having converted oppty record type hard-coded to the owner's default record type is not at all ideal, it would be great to have the option to hard-code Oppty record type to Lead record type, instead. |

A must have! We could include required opportunity fields in the conversion and greatly improve data quality -not to mention decrease end user "clicks." Also, I 2nd AstroCRM above -the task fields don't make any sense. It's a great idea to be able to create a task, but the fact that they look required but are not really required is confusing! |

Yes - we've lost data because this box was inadvertently ticked. Very frustrating! |

This would be very helpful. I've had various requirements at clients that would be served well with the ability to modify the convert lead page - such as adding custom ownership fields (for multi-owner orgs), defaulting the "do not create opty" button, etc. |

I vote for this! As our selling cycle is long most of our leads that are converted to contacts are longterm and we don't want to create an opportunity directly. So we would like to have the possibility to customize this in the conversion page or directly in the profile. |

Really need to be able to customize this screen. Telling users to tick the 'Do not create a new oppurtunity upon conversion' is just NOT working! We really need to be able to deafult this to True. |

I like this idea but would also like the option of being able to insert additional data into the contact, account, and opportunity fields. |

I agree with making the default to not create the opportunity but we need it on there - so don't remove it. Thanks. |

We would like to have the SAVE AND ADD PRODUCT required as the SAVE button so all users must add a Product. We would benefit from this at our company as we create a lead, immediately create an oppty upon conversion and then all info maps over. (Major benefit in regards to time-saving.) |

katieg 11/02/07 |
I agree. The amount of time taken to delete opps created by mistake is ridiculous. This page should be customisable for all the different companies' needs. |

Also we need to be able to customise which screen it goes to after converting the lead. We want to go to the opportunity, not the lead. And we want to be able to enter the Close Date as soon as the lead is converted, for forecasting reasons. |

Ability to add custom fields (with values required prior to conversion) and run validation rules? I would also like this page to have the help text appear, too. . . all in all, it is such an important page / stage . . . it should really be more customizable/robust. |

This would be a great feature.. It's rather strange that this page is not customizable within Salesforce. Spread the word and promote this Idea! :) |

Most important thing for us is switch the opportunity creation default to no. Ideally, would like to be able to control the answer to the conversion for the specific lead based on how other fields are completed. Same for the Contact portion of the lead conversion process. The default for overwrite lead source should be more controllable. |
|
hudinir Jan 23 |
this would be nice - but so all here should know - as it is now - you CAN default the 'do not create new opp' box to be checked. create a custom button, override the convert button, and in it add &nooppti=1, and it will be checked. :) |

We have a problem with the Lead Status field showing the default here. The sales team updates how far along the lead has come (Touch 1, Touch 2, etc.) If they don't update it when it is converted this info is lost as it resets to the default. If we could take it off the page this problem would go away. |

Some thought has been put into how to get around this limitation at: http://community.salesforce.com/sforce/board/message?board.id=custom_formula&... |

Ditto on the need to be able to specify record type when converting a lead to an opportunity and being able to specify the default opportunity stage when converting a lead. |
|

Yes, the Lead Convert page sorely needs point & click customization, and ditto to the need to be able to specify record type criteria for Account, Contact & Opportunity on conversion. |

Please allow Admins the ability to disable this! We continually have to clean up "garbage" Opportunity records that are created because of this. Then again, it's only been 21 months, and 5 releases of Salesforce... what's the rush??? |
|
AlexCRMmanager Jul 14 |
Haha, @Stevemo I love your comments, keep them coming!! |

Also have the ability to choose the close date for the oppt. instead of it picking the end of next month. |
|

The ability to customize the Lead Conversion page would be useful to us as well, but in our case we would do want the defualt to create a new opportunity upon conversion and hide the option not to. |
|
roger.paradis09192008 Oct 16 |
At the very least.... give us the ability to have a default for the "Do not create a new opportunity upon conversion." And the ability to leave open activities assigned to their current owners. This is starting to take hours for admins to manage a week. |

It's really hard to believe this isn't a native ability in Salesforce...very frustrating! |
|
vmargreve Nov 6 |
Please please please. It is a real pain and it occurs all the time that our internal sales people (who are not in the position to investigate if there is an opportunity or not!) convert without clicking. This idea has benn posted more then 2 years ago now! Could we please have the control of the default setting of that damn box! Common guys, this must be a simple development! Thanks |
