Customizing the Invitation for an Event
the feature to send an Email Invitation to a contact for a submitted Event ist great. Unfortunately our Marketing Department has strict rules on our CI and about wording.
For example in germany it's not ok to say hello and use the first name. Her we use a Salutation and the last name for example. Also the "ad" for Salesforce is not very much appreciated by our Marketing Folks

has my vote. At the risk of sounding a culturally heathen, the invite is american in its flavour |
|
RKW 11/21/06 |
The salesforce ad at the bottom of the meeting invite is unacceptable. As a software provider it is embarassing to have another vendor show in our emails (and have a no software logo!) We need the ability to remove that. |
|
dhubbard 11/29/06 |
I'd like to also have the ability to add our logo to those invites |
|
Stevenn 12/13/06 |
I agree with RKW and Christoph. The Salesforce ad has to go. The ad is annoying and counterproductive. It reminds our customers that they are being "sold". We don't use this function because of the ad! Very non-customer centric marketing by Salesforce. |
|
CVening 01/10/07 |
We won't use the invite until we can edit/remove the ad and the silly "faces" image. Not only does it "involve" a supplier in our business it is "american" flavour I don't want |
|
Redfin 01/31/07 |
Agreed - our organization will also not be using this functionality until we are able to customize the content. It's a shame because functionally it fits what we need, but we can't be sending Salesforce branded emails to our customers. |
|
jramah 02/13/07 |
This seems like obvious functionality and it is a major reason my organization does not fully use activity management. |
|
Jim_B 02/15/07 |
The ad is beyond over the top by Salesforce.com - it is rediculous. The branding on the e-mail is so dominated by Salesforce.com that the e-mails appear as if the meeting invitations are coming from Salesforce.com, not our company. It renders the feature unusable. Salesforce.com is developing quite a reputation between this, the sawbanners and the e-mail signatures that are being forced upon their customers. |

Meeting invitation personalisation
Why does the Meeting Summary email have to be hard coded? Shouldn't we be able to make that document look and represent our company, rather than having the Salesforce details and afroamerican illustration? This needs to be allowed to be modified like all the other email templates. IMO.

I know of several companies that have forbidden their users from sending invitations from SFDC because of the Marketing tag line at the bottom of this email. These companies are required by their legal department to put a privacy notice and disclaimer on all outbound email. Without being able to do this the email meeting invitation is useless. |
|
rcraven 03/21/07 |
I agree. with "Red_Maple" this should NOT be hard coded! We would like the ability to brand this like all other email notifications that go out through SF. Without being able to do this the email meeting invitation IS useless. Please make it customizable! |

Our sales reps need to spend less time on sending an invite. It would be great if we could customize the invitation - all the stuff for salesforce.com at the bottom makes our prospects think they're having a meeting with salesforce.com and not with our company. SF.com really missed the boat on this one! |

allow configurable Event Email confirmation layouts
Currently, the event confirmation page has a hard-coded header & footer branded with salesforce products. Allowing the header and footer to be configurable with specific company logos provides greater flexibility with this feature.

agluewvrs 08/29/07 |
Agree 1000%. SFDC should allow for customization of email invitation settings. Many install I've seen request that the ability to invite an attendee be removed (it currently cannot be). Shying away from using the invite attendees feature is counter-productive when you try and stress user adoption. It's difficult to train people to log events "but don't invite people". And it's also not ideal to train users to "Always use Outlook/Loutus for meetings"..... |
|
embraboy 08/30/07 |
I agree completely. Being hard coded devalues this functionality and we will not use it until we are able to brand it correctly and add the necessary disclaimer wording which is on all of our e-mail communictaion |
|

We are a SFDC Partner, and many of our clients refuse to use the 'Meeting Request' invite due to the salesforce branding and imagery. Ourt clients love the functionality, and would use it often. However, they are not at all interested in sending invites with another companies logo all over it. This really is a must!! |
|
whymustichoosescreenname 11/07/07 |
Well, since users of SF have been pointing out this shortcoming for a year now, I might assume you won't fix it. It's really simple to do. And if you allow me to customize with my own company's logo, perhaps my clients won't think I work FOR salesforce or that my invitation is SPAM. I agree with another's comment that the branding you force can be seen by my invitees that they are to be "sold" something. Since I sync (down only) w/ Outlook, I have to invite my customers with Outlook and then cancel that invite "without update" or deal with duplicate appointments (and reminders) on my calendar. |
|
Jara 12/14/07 |
I agree with all on the SF ad issue in event invites. People have been complaining about this for over a year now and nothing seems to be getting done about it. I went to a recent seminar (where even the speaker could not answer my questions) and they gave me some BS answer that this could be edited out in my personal settings. Well it can't so I cannot use this functionality. This is ridiculous and blantant spamming SFDC...shame on you! |
|
MichaelPatino Jan 14 |
I just put in a request to have the branded ads removed for my organization as well. According to SFDC support, it should take about 3 to 4 days, which will just delete the SF.com images and links. I still won't be able to create my own email template to suit our needs, but even a blank email is better then one branded to another company! |
|

It's not appropriate to be using a product called "SalesForce Professional" and have our company's meeting notices emailed around with SalesForce marketing logos plastered all over the bottom. It's the type of thing I would expect from a FREE product where - in exchange for using their technology, we help promote them. However, in the case of SalesForce, we pay a significant amount of money yet still have to have their logo on these communications. In fact - our own company logo doesn't even appear. This is just wrong. |
|
spannerman May 14 |
The inability to customise the event invite does not sit well with the promise for Platform as a Service - although you have to accept the inherent limitations of buying things in a "box", or adding your own "box" wrapping, this is a serious barrier to end-to-end adoption in a business. The customer/prospect engagement should reflect our business, not SFDC. Please fix this Frustration As A Service issue. |
|
sarahg May 20 |
I was amazed to discover that the SF branding and pictures of business men could not be removed from the event invite. Our events have nothing to do with SalesForce, so should not carry the branding. If we can't have our own branding, better no branding at all! I hope this will be changed sooner rather than later. |
|
richard321 May 28 |

We have heard this issue loud and clear. Thank you for all of the comments here and our apologies for the frustration this issue has caused. We do have a feature on our roadmap that would allow event invitations to be customized. The feature does not have a target date yet. I will update the idea in the future when this information is available. In the short term, there is one thing you can do to remove the SFDC branding from the event invitation footer. Make a request to support to enable the "Hide SFDC Brand" permission for your organization. This will remove the SFDC brand from the event invitations, printable views, and stay-in-touch emails. Keep the votes coming on this and other related postings as this helps us with our prioritization. |

My suggestion is that Salesforce makes this email template for meeting requests available so the salesforce admin can change/remove the branding at the bottom of the email. |

However, this is a tool that we and other corporations are paying for as part of the salesforce.com package and we should not have to worry about the salesforce.com advertising when using their solution. I've had several clients tell me that they disregarded the meeting confirmation emails because they didn't know anyone at Salesforce. Although the text of the email was clear that they were meeting with me and they know me well, people don't read as carefully as they should. It seems to me that the only justification for the Salesforce logo and other branding being in these emails is for SF to get free branding on the backs of its clients. If SF wants the branding, fine, then pay us for it and give us the choice as to whether to include it or not. But otherwise, we don't get branding in SF emails and so SF should not get branding in ours. It just isn't client friendly.

I agree. The current format makes the email look hokey/cheap. It makes Salesforce's customers look like they can't afford a "real system" of their own and need to use some startup web service.
Salesforce.com's branding should not get between their customers and their customer's customers like it does in this circumstance. If it has to be there, a SMALL "Powered by Salesforce.com" would probably be acceptable at the bottom of the email. From a functional standpoint, I'd like to suggest that there be a place in Salesforce where we can pick a Letterhead to apply to Meeting invites. This way, every Salesforce customer could brand their own email. If that's too difficult, then make it very generic and at least let your customers pick a logo for the top of the email. Look at the GoToMeeting invites that Salesforce sends out. They are very generic, look like they come from Salesforce and GoToMeeting branding does not get in the way. Follow that approach, please. |

We need to be able to make of use email templates in events like in other areas of Salesforce. Here are the things we need: 1. Select an email template at send time 2. The template should have some way of registering the repsonse, accepted or declined. 3. The abibility to send the email template after the event has been saved as well as before. Please guys! Not having this is a real hinderance! We want our sales team to LOVE Salesforce as much as we do! It would be nice to hear a comment from an SF employee here. |

This is absolultely critical. The fact that we can't get rid of the garish SFDC logos at the bottom is preventing many of our users from adopting the SFDC calendaring functionality. Our senior executives are FURIOUS that we are spending so much money on SFDC and can't use key functionality because SFDC is more interested in broadcasting its logo than serving the needs of existing customers. This idea was first posted almost 2 years ago, and still has not made it to the "Under Consideration" list, despite the fact that over 2500 votes have been cast for it, and many of the ideas "under considersation" have been supported by fewer than 100 votes. The only conclusion that I can draw is that SFDC is NOT listening to its customers.

Do a search for "stay-in-touch" in ideas and there are about 10 posts all asking for the same thing. Merge these together and this would be a very highly rated request. Amazing that out of all the posts, I only saw two SFDC replies. Why is this being ignored??
Great tool for data quality - never used because it is embarrassing. It would also be good if this could be a code snippet for our website and URL so we don't have to let our customers know they are being sales(forced). |

Some consolidation of these ideas would be good. Let me know if anyone disagrees with merging this idea with the one at this URL:

Ok to merge but please make sure that SFDC fix this in the next release. We have been waiting for a long time now...

I have been shocked to see that, for this function, our CRM is absolutely not customer oriented! - It is not possible to respect our CI/CD (fonts, logos,...)! - It is not possible to choose the required language (in Europe we communicate with more languages) ! - The text cannot be edited, modified! It is discreditable that a CRM, that should be THE SW-tool for the communication with the customer, is so poor! |
