Granting Login Access to delegated admins ( Summer '07)
It would be very helpful if Delegated Admins could login as any user having a role specified in their "User Administration" section. This functionality is currently limited to System Admininstrators.

Agree, since we have delegated admins around the world managing local users, doing trouble-shooting etc. |

"Login As" w/o Sys Admin Rights
Currently in order to "login as" a user you need full system administrator rights.
The "login as" feature can be used by help desk users to quickly resolve problems that users are having without having to guess at what the user can or can't see. By allowing this feature to be accessible only by sys admins it limits the ability to customize the application for various support users (i.e. default tabs, page layouts, field accessibility, etc.) and provides far more access rights to support staff than they need. Propose that users can have this right (even if it has to be a read only view) without also having full sys admin rights. |

This is a critically needed feature. There are only two of us who are system admins, but we have users on five continents in who know how many time zones. I would love to be able to have help desk or super users log in to assist people, but I absolutely can't grant them full, sys admin rights.

Allow non-administators to login as another user
We have a large (2000+) implemenation with centralized security & use admin. However, end-user support is handled locally. Having the ability to loginas a user restricted to those with the Manage User permsission on their profile is problematic. To give this right to more people would be an audit issue.
We would like to see a profile permission that allows someone to login as a user who has granted the admin login access. OR (even better) Allow the end user to specify to specify the person they are allowing to login as them. |

Hi All, I just added a picture to this post as a possible example of how we might implement this feature. Would love to get any feedback on whether this meets your needs. Thanks, Andrew Andrew Smith Product Manager, Apex Platform |

Hi Andrew: this is exactly how I would expect it. |

At least make sure we can add this to a delegated admin profile. Now a person needs to be a full admin to sign in as anohter user.

I agree with all the comments. This is crucial also for us, with business in 17 countries with "National Admins" in each country, working as first level support for their sales representatives. Each national admin must only have the delegated rights to users only for their own country! We had a situation recently where one national admin accidently reset password for a user in another country by mistake. |

Grant Login Access for Support Profiles
We have a Help Desk that supports end users. They need to be able to login to view user issues, but they should not have ability to configure, modify all data.

Do I need to modify a user account within User Setup to provide SalesForce's help desk access to our environment or do I simply provide UserName / Password?

Delegated Admin for user login only
I would like to be able to grant login access to dedicated admin's only... basically, our Sales Management team would like to be able to login as their respective team members for review of accounts, etc. I cannot give them this access without them being full admin's on the system, which I cannot have.

Our organization also has this role of "end-users support", and I was looking exactly for this features you guys are saying was "released" on 2007. However, I still don't know how to grant the "login as" to a user whithout giving him the "Modify All Data". Can anyone help me, pls? Many thanks! |

and yet: I checked on the Salesforce's Help, and the answer I got is copied below. Apparently the user DO have to have the "Modify All Data" in order to "login as". "For one user to login as another user assuming login access has been granted, the user logging in must have the 'Modify All Data' and 'Manage Users' permissions on their profile. System Administrators have these permissions by default. Non-system administrators must have the permissions enabled in their respective profile to login as other users." |

As an administrator, why would I need to wait for a user to grant me permission to login as themselves? This can delay problem resolution. |
