Mass E-mail more than 250 people at a time
Mass E-mail more than 250 people at a time or at least SFDC - selecting 250 at a time for you from a campaign or view.

I would also like to see being able to mass email more than 250 people at a time. It would be nice if one could put together a campaign, include all of the people you want to send to in the campaign and then schedule it. Then let salesforce deliver it over a few days at 250 per day or 500 per day or something like that. Most of the time, for us, it's not a matter of how quickly the email gets sent out, but that it is quick to set up and easy to administer. My other problem is that I'd like to be able to add contacts to campaigns at more than 250 at a time. Being able to add them via a report would be great. The problem with the campaign tool is that when I go to manage the campaign members and then choose to add contacts to the list, I don't get any options from the account level, only the contact level. So if I wanted to send a campaign to people at companies with sales larger than $20 million, or to certain account types (Customers vs. partners), I can't currently do that. I'd like to be able to. |

This is absolutely vital to our business, we don't intend to spam anyone but we do have 5000 regular customers who have requested technology and event updates. Currently we can't use Salesforce to automate this unless we break it into groups of 250 customers, which is massively frustrating. |

I agree with everyone else. This is vital function to a very robust CRM application that limits you to 250. If they expect us to use it throught out the company there should be no limiitation. Suggesting that we search and use a third party application is not acceptable. We currently use GroupMail for the mass emails and it only cost $100. it has been a great tool. Unfortunately this requires me to update salesforces when there are updates - meaning double entry. |

Is there a SF plug-in/3rd party software that we can use to do mass mailing to more than 250 users? Thanks. |

There is a number of AppExchange partners for email marketing that have integrated with salesforce.com You can find the them here: http://www.salesforce.com/appexchange/category_list.jsp?NavCode__c=a013000000... Or browse http://www.salesforce.com/appexchange/< are looking at improving our email capabilities in salesforce.com, I would like to get ideas on where and how we can improve the most and what new features you would like to see in the app. |

There are several tools available. I recently switched to one that is very tightly integrated with SF.com and tied to the activity history of a contact/lead as well as associating a mailing to a campaign. This way the most important data from the deliverability results are captured in the campaign: sent, delivered, opened, etc. This partner seems to want to be the place where HTML content is created and stored but it is sent from SF.com. This avoids the task of constantly exporting and importing lists. The only thing that is missing is the ability to send a message directly from a report. I can send a message from their system to any SF.com report I have rights to see but never having to leave the system to send a generic email message. My tip: Only use one system to avoid the laws you could violate by sending mass emails to people from SF.com who have unsubscribed from a different system that is not integrated. |

I understand that SFDC does not want to be an email service provider (ESP), but they should at least remove the 250 recipient restriction from the Mass Email Users functionality. For organizations with more than 250 users, it would be very useful to be able to contact all Salesforce.com users without having to interface with an outside email system or send out a single message to batches of users. |

I would like to have the ability to see if users click on the links in my email blasts. |

Raising the 250 limit would be nice, but the key requirement here is the need to select 250 contacts from a single View of any number of contacts. Right now, a View cannot be created/saved if there are more than 250 contacts as a result of the filter, i.e. create a Travel Sector view with 4 accounts that have a total of 1000 contacts in them, but be able to select up to 250 with the check boxes (this should work the same as adding campaign members). The control of the 250 contact limitation should be at this point, i.e. the point of contact selection, rather than at the point of View creation. |

BuzzMetrics 02/16/07 |
I agree that it would be ideal to have more than 250 in any email, but my first concern is at least making it so I can create a view that has more than 250 users in it even if my limit to email is only 250. I hope that this is a more immediate priority. |
|
seand 02/19/07 |
It does just not make sense, in Professional Edition you are limited to 250 at a time up to 1000 per day, why not just limit it UP TO to 1000 at a time and keep the limit to 1000 per day, it does not make sense to make us send 4 batches of 250 it's just inconvenient but will not stop us from sending the amount we need to. |
|
PCPaulClarke 03/05/07 |
BuzzMetrics says it well. That it would be ideal to have more than 250 in any email, but my first concern is at least making it so I can create a view that has more than 250 users in it even if my limit to email is only 250. I hope that this is a more immediate priority. |

Limiting mass emails to groups of 250 is very time consuming. If I have 5000 leads and want to send a mass email, Salesforce should automatically divide the list into chucks of 250 and send 4 emails a day for 5 days (1000 a day). Please, implement this as soon as possible. This is extremely time consuming. |

I've gotten around this thus far by using the services of Vertical Response. They tie nicely into salesforce.com via the AppExchange. I'd still like Salesforce to work more on their email system though. |

We are looking at extending the mass email limits for our summer '07 release. |
|
JoeH 04/05/07 |
We use Vertical Repsonse for our huge email blasts, and it works well. But the vast majority of our outbound email communications are under 100 contacts at a time. Even more than the 250 blast limit, there should be better tools for coralling and slicing the data up. The mass email tool should be resident or available for every tab where emails are stored, even if they're custom objects. |
|
narrowstepsupport 05/09/07 |
The only way of seeing all email addresses is by running a “report” (a view) type function on all contacts with a certain common field. This is going to become a problem when we exceed 250 ppl for our mailing list…as when you get past 250 ppl you receive an error saying cannot send as there is more than 250 ppl in your selected report…. Surely there could be a tick box function allowing to select up to 250 ppl of my choice from a list of a higher amount of people. At the moment I only have 154 people on the list but this will increase and when it does this is going to become a problem when trying to mass mail clients. But yes, if the ability to send to more than 250 at a time were to be available, that would be great. |

Views of 250+ to enable Mass Mailing
I'm new to this idea-exchange, so someone experienced please jump in at any point if I am not "doing" this right.
I have a request for something I need to do that Salesforce will currently not allow. I need to send a mailing to roughly 4,000 of my contacts on a somewhat regular (monthly) basis. The mass e-mail function is limited to 250 contacts at a time because of the functionality of "views" - does anyone know any tricks for getting around this? Obviously I can "guess" where 250 is in the alphabet and try to parse that way into separate mailing "chunks," but I would love to eliminate the guesswork and be able to either: a) actually view and e-mail all 4,000 contacts at once (which would require a salesforce update i guess), or b) use a more scientific way to say "give me the first 250 in my requested view, now give me 251-500, etc." Anybody out there have any great ideas here? |

250 is a limit imposed on Mass Email functionality. If you need to send more email I recommend you use of the salesforce.com partner like VerticalResponse or ExactTarget. See full listing here

Salesforce has a "designed limitation" on the amount of email you can send thru them. It is based on deliverability and ensuring you are CAN-SPAM compliant with your mass emails. VerticalResponse for Appexchange allows you to send emails to lists of any size with no contracts or committments. I'd be happy to speak further to this and show you how to test the product for free to 500 recipients. Please contact me at then nubmer below.

Exactly how many emails is it possible to send per blast in the new release? |
|
nicksquash 07/03/07 |
This is one of the biggest problems we face. We currently have 7000 (predicted to be 20,000 by the end of the year) customers we need to email, if we do it with Salesforce it will take us 7 days. We've tried a popular 3rd party provider, but it had some short fallings that we weren't happy with, so now we're back to square one. Rasmus_Mencke said that Salesforce is extending these limits in Summer '07, so I was just wondering when this was going to happen considering it's already summer and how the limits are going to change? Any information on this would be much appreciated as we're looking at entering a contract with another 3rd party provider that we find is on the expessive side. All we're after is the ability to email all our customers and have an activity recorded against the customer. |

Create a queue..... let us queue up a large number of messages and send them on a quota basis.. the current model of forcing lists/reports to be broken down into smaller (sub 250) is wrong. |

It seems this feature is on the way -- but only for Enterprise or Unlimited Users... I guess 'professional' does not mean what it used to. |
|
Rasmus_Mencke 09/12/07 |
The limits that was released with Summer '07 are: PE: 250 emails per batch EE: 500 emails per batch UE: 1,000 emails per batch We keep evaluating how we can improve our service in this area, to meet customer needs. Please post your comments as they are used to prioritize new features and enhancements. |

how do i prevent my emails sent landing in customers junk mail. Every email I send goes directly into junk. I have to call them and actually remind them that it might be in there. HELP!!!!! |
|
paulturner May 30 |
It says here that this feature has been released. Yet I still have to break my list of 2500 cotacts into blocks of 250, by guessing "first name starts with a,b,c" etc. This is painful. I understand the issue with being spam compliant. So what I need is to be able to pass my target list of contacts and have SF carve it into the right blocks and send it out on consecutive days. This surely can't be that difficult! |

If you understand mail server and reputations that ISP builds, this is a bad idea. Most ISP's have a 50 eamail max to send. Be happy with 250. If this is mis used, and the sender is not using double opt in applications, then salesforce servers will get blocked. You need to use a system that will integrate with SF as an apexchange. This can get hairy. You need to follow all the Can SPAM laws strictly. |
