Salesforce IdeaExchange
Web to X
Have the ability to create any form like the web to lead form where you can put a form on a site and allow a new record creation.
This would allow a huge win in the apps for expenses for example. Sales is the majority of expenses however you have several other departments which need to submit expenses. Therefore if you use the expense object only for sales you're creating two different processes which most people don't like.
However your CFO doesn't really want to spend a licenses for every person that submits an expense. [not to mention the approval flow but I know that's coming, heeeey!]
So some how, some way to generate an html web form would be great.

My company Clicktools provide exactly this functionality. We are a certified Salesforce partner and Clicktools is available through the AppExchange. Clicktools allows you to design web forms, landing pages and surveys and map the data back in to Salesforce in an extremely flexible way. http://www.appexchange.com (search for clicktools) |

I vote for this in SF natively. |

There is a reference to Web to X forms in https://na1.salesforce.com/help/publicHelpSolution.jsp?ps=1&orgId=00D00000000... Are they referring to either the web to case or web to lead form or is there a possibility to use a generic form to update custom objects and the fields related to them? Thanks to anyone who comments. |

Jmine - this is only in reference to setting the record types and the value to set in doing such, however a webmaster still needs to build the hook into salesforce to write back to the new object. |

Check the AppExchange for Web-2-Anything from a company called Model Metrics. |

Desperately needed natively in SFDC. |

Need natively in SFDC, not as an add-on. |

Web to custom object
I would like to see the same functionality as web to case in a custom object.

The last posts are a year and a half old. Does anyone have any news on this? In any case, this possibility should be native to SFDC. |

Absolutely should be native. I hope SFDC is not ignoring this simply to keep partners happy. This is badly needed; though, it may be easier to do through some Apex code. |
