Spell Check on comments and email, notes, descriptions
Spell check should be available when using an email template.
Ditto for Notes and Descriptions. This is particularly significant for Case Comments as they are not freely available for editing.

Use Firefox 2.0 and you can add any dictionaries you want (ok it is a workaround) |

My service agents are terrible spellers. They know it. This would be great for them. |
|
ErikM 10/12/06 |
Right on, but what about foreign languages? I wouldn't want this functionality turned on for my spanish or german users unless SFDC can provide multi-lingual spellchecking. This is probably a job for a 3rd party tool. |
|
Sam@BH 10/23/06 |
you can spell check via the Google toolbar feature, you can check spelling on any type form on the Internet. |

Firefox 2.0 or iespell.com for IE - I find Client side spell checker is much, much faster. |
|
neosupport 11/09/06 |
Right, Client side spell checkers are more convenient. I didn't know iespell for IE, but the built-in spell checker of Firefox 2.0 works like a charm. |

Yes, I want the spell checker to work inside SalesForce in all areas. This would speed up my work by 20 percent. |

And how about adding Formatting in long text and Notes fields? (Like Formatting Controls in "Send an Email".) http://ideas.salesforce.com/article/show/37116 |

fifedog 11/20/06 |
I would agree that third party spell checkers are the way to go. |
|
avickers 12/22/06 |
Spell Checking in all text fields would certainly improve quality. |
|
GlennFromAppirio 01/07/07 |
Another vote here for 3rd party browser-based spell checkers. There is no need for Salesforce.com to try and build this into their application. |

Spell Check
Please add the ability to have either inline spell checking like in Word or give us the ability to check the spelling any text field and of course correct the misspellings.

Just use Firefox as your browser, it has built-in spell check that works better than anything Salesforce.com could ever provide. Plus, many objects with long text fields already have a spellcheck button in SFDC (new e-mails, solution details, etc.).
Use Firefox, its way better. |

+10 points.
There is a quick solution, FireFox is a good browser. If you prefer to use Microsoft Internet explorer i would suggest the Google toolbar. The Google toolbar gives you a lot of cool features, including spell check, minus all the spy ware and bugs other toolbars put on your PC during the installation. Good luck with that though... - Michael Vargas |

I just posted this on a similar idea - install the Google Toolbar - it will spell check anything in the application, even your field labels!

Spell checker
I would like to put forward the concept that salesforce users have a spell checker in at least all areas that you can make comments i.e. "note & attachments" or "comment" boxs etc.
I hope that all my spelling is correct in this note. |

I was informed the other day to install the Google Toolbar. It has a spell checker that will work with any web application you use. It will even check the spelling of your fields on the screen. This is a great tool for our International users, as the SFDC spell check within Activities is limited to English only. Google Toolbar will work in multiple languages.

Use Firefox web browser. It supports multilingual dictionaries, custom words etc. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/dictionaries/

please can you add the spell checker to any long text area field at the very least. our admin arm currently has to copy and paste into word to do the spell check and then paste back. |
|
CiaranC 05/09/07 |
It would be very useful if this could be added to any text area or long text area. In some organizations, third party solutions such are Google toolbar are not permitted. |

Spell Checking on creating email templates
We discussed today how it would be very helpful to have a spell check button when setting up an email template.

I also make use of FireFox 2.0.
Can I suggest that you add this comment to an earlier idea which has a much higher rating - http://ideas.salesforce.com/article/show/22377 That way I suspect there will be more chance of it getting implemented. |

Spell Check Button needed when sending HTML Email
No, because we like to keep them around for archival purposes. If it's not valid because it has been delivered, please leave a comment to that effect, and a PM can change it's status to reflect that.

Spell Check and Grammer in HTML Email
Messages sent via email with Company Letterhead need to be spell checked. Many of our email messages are prewritten for our sales force, however, there are also times when the sales team needs to send out an individual message with attachments from our document library in salesforce.
Please add the Spell Check and Grammer function that is available when using a "sales force branded email" to the html email function. If someone has a work around, please let us know. |

Spell check facility in all emails
Although there is a spell check facility in a standard email there isn't an option when using a template. As with most companies, we send all emails with a company header and footer, which is set up as a template. A spell check option in a template would be very welcome.
|
|
LindaABraham 05/11/07 |
Ditto. |
|
pauldn 12/05/07 |
The spellcheck facility should check all fields, it's crazy that it doesn't, this is a must have. |
|
ajaiswal 12/06/07 |
spellcheck would be great feature. Need for HTML templates as well. |
|
sofree 12/20/07 |
Install the free IE7Pro plugin. It spell checks on the fly. http://www.ie7pro.com/ |
|
AlexCRMmanager 12/21/07 |
plugins are not an acceptable solution for most corporate users. Salesforce needs to license Google's inline spell-check feature for Gmail for all of Salesforce.com large text input areas. |

Coming with Spring '08 we'll be adding the existing Spell Checker functionality to Tasks, Events, and Notes. I've created an additional idea to track http://ideas.salesforce.com/article/show/100448/Check_Spelling_for_Tasks_Even... |
|
jspaziante Jan 7 |
A note on Firefox spell-checker: When sending an HTML email in Firefox, I actually need to right-click in the "Body" region and choose "Spell check this field" each time, otherwise it is not checked. I hope this helps. (If anyone knows how to permanently enable this, please share) |
|
fjw Jan 18 |
I would say that the next spelling functionality should be at the very least to allow spell check on all Long Text fields. |

Since a lot of reporting is done from Salesforce, spell check is needed in a large capacity. I know activities now have the capability to use spell check, however opportunities, cases, etc... also needs it as well. |
