New Calendar
New calendar functionality is planned for Winter ’07. The calendar features a graphical interface for weekly, monthly, or daily activities. New hover functionality lets users mouse over any activity in the calendar to show the details for the activity. The calendar will let users and teams collaborate more effectively in planning their activities.

I can't wait to turn off my MS Outlook calendar!

Chris Houston, TX 09/06/06 |
Are you using Outlook just for its calendar capabilities? Otherwise, you'd still need an email tool that integrates with Salesforce...
|
|
Simon Emeryville, CA 09/06/06 |
Need to be able to trigger workflow from calandered events and tasks - eg due dates
|
|
Clive Dublin, Ireland 09/07/06 |
Does this support interfacing recurring activities from outlook?
|
|
Jeff San Francisco, CA 09/07/06 |
Does it support drag / drop capability for when you need to reschedule a meeting for a different day / time? If so, that's a big incentive to move from my from Outlook to SFDC calendar for all my Events!
|
|
ABSI Team Bruxelles, Belgium 09/07/06 |
We would like to schedule daily recurrent events for a longer period than 3 months (for the moment limted to 99 recurrent events on a daily basis)

Let's take it back to the basics, is there any task integration whatsoever? Or perhaps, integration with custom objects (for instance, we use one CO to track projects and another to track time off -- what if we could have those date fields display on the calendar?
|

Paul Fox Austin, TX 09/07/06 |
Is this calendar going to actually include all activities (tasks and events)? I would love to see a page where the task list and calendar are tied together so that when you change the calendar days are shown, the task dates actually match.

A little off topic, but I'd instead like to see a server based integration between SFDC Tasks and Events and Outlook. Right now, a user needs to have a client running - doesn't help those who are on blackberries all the time (and don't want to use mobile).

I agree with this comment! the SFDC calendar needs to easily sync with Outlook for users with PDA's |

Is the hover screen going to be based on the page layout or configurable? If not, I'd rather just open the activity because we rely heavily on a custom field: purpose.

I really want to see the ability to display multiple calendars in the same window. For us, being able to see our personal calendar and the events in a public calendar side-by-side would be huge.

Warren Stoke, United Kingdom 09/12/06 |
It would be nice to see this new calendar functionality supporting multi-day events.
|

Solar Power San Diego, CA 09/13/06 |
I agree with Jeff from San Fran. Can we Drag and Drop activities? That would be the ultimate upgrade for my team. And we could drop Outlook's calendar.

Amy - BusinessWeek - New York Hightstown, NJ 09/14/06 |
Can you ADD MORE than One Contact to an event? This would be a HUGE improvment for us.

Does this interface with timesheets like quickarrow?

Including Multi-Day Events?

Thanks for all the great comments and questions to this point. * Simon - Please provide more details on your request. What type of workflow should be triggered? * Clive - Interfacing recurring activities from Outlook is not in Winter ’07 but we are considering this for 2007. * Jeff and Solar Power - Agreed that drag and drop is very useful for scheduling and rescheduling. This is not part of Winter ’07 but is something I am excited to start work for 2007. Any other ideas for the Salesforce calendar? * ABSI Team - Recurring events beyond 99 recurrences is under consideration for 2007. * Guest from Wash DC and Paul Fox- Tasks and custom objects do not yet appear on the Calendar. Both of these are under consideration for 2007. * Brenda Weller from Symantec - We currently support Outlook synchronization at the client level not the server level. Exchange to Salesforce.com synchronization is a great idea. I will pass this along to the Outlook integration team. * Paul Fox - The Event overlay (hover) is configured via a page layout. So you have control over the fields that are displayed and in what order they appear. * Jude Sohn - Are you asking to display a user calendar overlaid with a public calendar? * Warren and Neal- Multi-day events are on the roadmap for 2007. * Amy from Business Week - Associating many contacts to an event is on the roadmap for 2007. * Clive - Not sure what you are asking. Do you want to show a quickarrow project on the Salesforce.com calendar? |

Calendar functionality is one of the greatest reasons why I can;t get rid of my MS Exchange server - the more you can beef that up, the easier I will find it to really move to the web and start ditching all that MS hardware and software

We don't use SFDC calendar, reasons why? these: -we are 100% mobile for events, on WM5 PDAs, so we need over the air sync between a server and our mobile devices; now that is done coupling the PDA with Exchange server -PDA can only sync with one single calendar, so even in the case we could sync the PDA to SFDC it would be mandatory being able to do the sync with multiple calendars Options I see: -the PDA syncs with the SFDC server directly (this is ideal) -SFDC server syncs with Exchange, and the PDA syncs with the Exchange as well (this may be troublesome for hosted Exchange users) -SFDC sends i-Calendar invitations to assistants/owners by email (same as Outlook/exchange does) (this is not perfect yet, but may suffice for some users) In any case I consider SFDC calendar 100% useless now for mobile workers, have you got plans to provide calendar sync for WM5 PDA customers? And don't forget reverse sync: changes made on the PDA should be updated wirelessly at the SFDC calendar. |

Did you already start implementing some changes? The 30-day multi-user calendar is now showing details and color bars, but they aren't constrained to a set grid size so it's completely unusable.

I would like to be able to choose a calendar (my personal or a public) when creating a new event within any object's record. If I am part of a public calendar and want to log an event there...I have to to be on the home tab and in the public calendar to create the new event and then relate it to the appropriate object and record. Also, multi-day events...please, please. Having to recreate a new event each day for a multi-day event is so time consuming. |

Would it be possible to have an option making this new calendar timezone agnostic? For instance, 11pm is 11pm at current system time, rather than trying to be clever and convert appointments etc to local timezones? MS Outlook is awful at this. When I travel (and oh, how I travel) I need to leave my laptop in my Australian timezone, otherwise Outlook will "Helpfully" re-assign all my appointments to the new timezone. This means that when I sync to my palm, I get woken up at 3am in New York because there is a stand-up meeting back at the office. Not useful. If this salesforce cal has the ability to be smart about timezones, ie, offer me the user the capabilitiy to intelligently schedule appointments - If i'm setting up meetings when I'm in Australia, I dont say "okay, I'll be meeting so-and-so at 11:30pm Australian time" - I put in an entry: Meeting, Place, Local Time. If SF's calendar had the option to not mess with the appointment times when timezones change, this would be mana from heaven, and would make me stop using outlook's calendar. Hope someone listens, any international travellers will know what I'm talking about. |

We have difficulty with the current calendar for a couple of reasons. We use a public calendar for lots of events in our organization, but public/shared calendars are not included in searches. Also, our old calendar allowed us to overlay other calendars into a high level view of other calendars. This feature was particularly useful |
|
Tina 10/23/06 |
We would use the calendar if it allowed task activities to show up on the calendar along with events. Either that or the events need to have the ability to close. |
|
SkyofClouds 10/26/06 |
Can we PLEASE get a feature that would send SMS notifications at scheduled times, based on task/event data (the way Google Calendar has it set up). I use SF Professional and am about to start using Google Calendar solely for this feature, which will be a data-entry waste! |
|
capncrunch 10/31/06 |
It would be great to have a multi-group calendar ("overlayed", as wjl mentioned). |
|
NPM 11/17/06 |
This is great - and our users also want to see the "Related To" information included in the calendar display, not just in the rollover detail. Something Like: • Tuesday 11/21/2006 • 10:43 AM - 11:43 AMGeneral : Contact name Would look like: Calendar • Tuesday 11/21/2006 • 10:43 AM - 11:43 AMGeneral : Contact name:AccountName |

Please, have a look at http://www.iscrybe.com The new salesforce.com calendar could get inspiration from the above mentioned calendar. Google calendar is also a good reference. |
|
IdeoWeb20 03/15/07 |
Could you please add the possiblity to customize the detail window which appears when you pass the mouse on an event. I could be very useful to add the location field for instance. |
|
Tina 05/24/07 |
We desperately need to see the tasks, along with events, in the calendar view or at least have the ability to mark the event item as complete. |

The new calendar is great online, but thie new feature is no available in AxM, SFDC on Mobile, Blckberry. In the AxM calendar, you only see the subject and the date/hour. Would be required to get the contact name, related account name. Because mobile users, move, they need to check where will he go...more than what will they do Regards |
|
romainc@resmed.fr 12/21/07 |
Yes I know that now it 's available online but still not in AxM? |
|

I would like to see a drag and drop option in the calendar. Too often I am just moving an event to a later time during the day and would like to be able to open the single day view and drag it to a different time in the day. The same for the week or month view - allow the user to drag an event to a different day without having to open the event, click edit, change the date, and save the event. (I am also a big supporter of Amy's suggestion - multiple contacts on one event) |

Can we send an event to multiple users in the system? |
