Ability to attach documents from Content to Emails

When emailing to contacts, leads, etc, we should have the option to attach a document that is loaded into the Content module. Much like what is done with files that are loaded into the document section.

Justin_Prima Mar 4	I agree. We now have reps downloading docs from content (on to their hard drive)so they can then attach to their outgoing mail. Not only does this mean they could end up with an out of date content item but we lose control over the email template and traceability.

abb1ehank5 Apr 3	I have been training our sales team on how to use our newly acquired Salesforce Content over the past few weeks. Without fail, everyone I have trained so far has asked how you send an email from Salesforce and attach a document from Salesforce Content. It seems to me that this is a fundamental functionality that is missing from the tool. Please consider bringing the release of this feature forward as it really isn't ideal having to download documents onto your hard drive and then attaching them to a Salesforce email - it kind of defeats the object of having it all on there in the first place... thanks.

jjgoldman May 24	Exactly the same thing should apply to Templates as well. Instead of linking a file, you should be linking a Content file, such that version changes in SF Content should automatically update the template.
timbar May 28	All - thanks for your feedback. We hear it loud and clear. We want to provide comprehensive support for emails which includes sending emails out to contacts, leads etc. plus the ability to have email templates which can attach files stored in Content. I'd be interested in your feedback on 1 area. Today, Salesforce has a 5Mb attachment limit. Anything above 5Mb will be sent as a link to a file, instead of a file attachment. I'm interested if you all want the same behaviour or if you want to see it changed as part of this. For example, if we ALWAYS send a link, we can monitor and report when content has been accessed by the recipient. Your thoughts are appreciated! Tim
Christoph_K. Jun 5	unfortunately the link doesn't work for all recipients (firewall etc. maybe) i would love to see a report how many recipients accessed the document. So, yes brilliant idea as long as anyone receiving the link can open the specific document
dcrilley Aug 11	Amen! Every one of my users wants this. Not having this feature undercuts my efforts to get our team to do everything from within Salesforce.
thinkdata Sep 12	can this be configurable? I would prefer the link as some of my users use IMAP email and attachments are notoriously the goat swallowed by the snake. I also like that it cuts down on intermediary storage. But w/o an opt-out that could be a problem for some.
BigIdeaRat Sep 20	Agree absolutely! Why use Content to publish and share documents (e.g. marketing data sheets) unless it can also be sent to customers? While you're at it, how about ability to send an email that contains EITHER the content document itself OR a url link to Content that is available via the Customer Portal.
trs24 Nov 14	When is this going to be available? It is absolutely critical that documents stored in content be attachable to salesforce emails.
skappler Nov 15	The Content being sent through an email needs to go out as the document itself and not a link to the document regardless of size. OR, users need to have the option of selecting either an attachment or link for each email they send.
