Color control for dashboards/report charts

It would be great if we could control the colors used in dashboard components and report charts. Take for example, the report included with this submission. It summarizes open and closed activity per rep. It automatically color codes the closed (completed) activity as red. Red carries a connotation with it that may not apply to my specific report. Would be nice to have the flexibility to make it a different color depending on my report's content.

CRMTexas Jan 29	RPR2 - Exactly. So then, for example, when you compare one dashboard component to another the Western Region/Eastern Region etc. will all be displayed with consistent colors. This allows you to draw conclusions quicker. You don't have to think as you review - you can just eyeball and have an answer.

joyd Feb 11	I have my attorneys ask me on their daily retention reports - why is Retained red and Not Retained blue and Cancelled green? And the next day the colors change on them so I have to keep reminding them to watch the key because the colors change as the number of results change :-( Wayy too confusing.

energyindustryuser Feb 20	A few implementation solutions (easiest to hardest): -Allow users to set color order in their dashboards Then, at least, you could pick colors relevant to your company -Allow users to set color order on a per report level Then, you could at least control things like "Health"/"Status" and assign red, yellow, and green appropriately. This would also allow you to use different color schemes for different kinds of information in presented in dashboards (ie blue=marketing, green=sales) -Allow users to set color at the report level and attach colors to specific values of the columns reported You would have to build some significant infrastructure underneath each report to handle this, and you'd probably need to redo the last step of the report process where you build the graph. However, all it needs is a paried list of Field Values and Color References, which would make assigning colors easier for the user, and make data storage simple on SFDC's end.

JDenis Mar 14	I would like to be able to set the color for my picklist values. This way, each value in the picklist will always be displayed in the same color in all dashboards. Now the color change depending on the number of results retrieved.
david_sparks Jun 9	I have recently had the fact that "no data" returned to a pie chart is the same color as legitimate data values on other components. Even if we could not select our own colors, the system needs to use a unique color (white, background color, etc.) on pie charts to designate no data. As it is, an executive glancing at the dashboard sees nothing immediately out of place when, for example, there are no closed won sales.

scottcparker Aug 3	This is also very important to us. Our regional vice presidents have all expressed concerns with this. For example, East is blue in one chart, then the next chart they are red. Some of them have even moved to using pivot tables using the Excel connector just so they could get standard colors.
remjones Aug 13	I want to promote this a million times! This has been a huge pain point for me for years now. Especially if you are reporting on say Status, and the status is red, yellow, green, but the SFDC graph shoes blue for red, red for green and green for yellow. Please Please make this happen!!

Currently, categories are colored in a specific order, If a category does not have a value, the graph uses the color for the next category with a value greater than 0 or 3%. When comparing graphs of the same thing or different sales reps, the colors help to interpret the data quickly and accurately. Without customizing the colors, the dashboard is much harer to read.

JackieT Oct 8	It would be most helpful for all types of charts and summarizing. When using pie charts, each time you refresh the color coding changes, which makes consistency impossible. Executives need to be able to know what they are looking at immediately w/o having to decode the color legend. For example: West should always be blue; East should always be green, etc. Joe Salesperson is always purple. Thank you!
marylou Oct 24	The ability to choose the colours would make so much sense, or at least make the colours consistent. At the moment when I have three pie charts in a dashboard, showing the same picklists, it is very difficult to compare across the charts when the colours are not consistent for each picklist value. We need to make these charts easier to view and make sense of the data, or they will not be used by our users. This makes all the hard work of creating the dashboards pointless and makes Salesforce a much less useful tool. Please make this available for PE!

goforcego Nov 26	When multiple pie charts are put in the same dashboard, color consistency and ability to select them becomes important. Same for just a plain pie chart - want to have "Red-Yellow-Green" color for specific slices of the pie.
happygirl Nov 26	Hey Salesforce Project Manager could you please give us an update if this will be in the pipeline anytime soon and what the priority is? I am concerned because there are a few ideas on this so the total is not as accurate as the community need. Any update would be appreciated.
drewalexander Nov 26	The ability to specify colors should include the ability to peg certain colors to certain picklist values, so that, for example, a status of Red always gets Red as its corresponding graph color. Colors should be report-specific, if desired (as in the example of the red status = red color), but it would be nice to specify default org-wide colors to match one's corporate color palette, or dashboard-wide defaults for a given dashboard. Might be nice to be able to specify several different color palettes (similar to the way Powerpoint does), and let you apply different palettes to different reports & dashboards.
