Not an idea, more of a bug - but I can't find bugexchange!
When you cancel events having never sent any invites, salesforce.com automatically sends an update to the invitees. Users are not asked whether they want to do this, or what the content of the update should be.
Worse, it is branded as "Sent from Salesforce. experience success.
http://www.salesforce.com/" give us the option to do each and all of:
- disable all emails regarding meetings (some clients still want to use Lotus Notes or Outlook - some have to for regulatory reasons)
- configure meeting emails to show information as we wish it to be shown
- REMOVE THE SALESFORCE.COM BRANDING!! - we're customers of salesforce.com, not advertising hoardings for you.

How do you cancel an event in Salesforce? I can only see the option to delete an event which has been scheduled, however this doesn't send an update to the invitees |

Sorry - my bad use of terminology. Unfortunately it's still the same situation for you WERD2. If you cancel/delete an event that has a contact invited, even if you have never sent them an invite when you delete the event the contact will be emailed with the following: Hello Contact, User has cancelled the following meeting: When: 21/01/2008 11:00 - 12:00 Greenwich Mean Time Where: Subject: test Comments: Sent from Salesforce. experience success. http://www.salesforce.com/ |

It is absolutely hard to grasp the idea that SFDC will not ease up on their own branding. This issue comes up in every other issue posted on IdeaExchange and yet no foreseeable solution. Subscribers of SFDC should get a discount for the free advertisement campaigns we sponsor for them. |

If an event is now history PLEASE make the system NOT send event cancellation notification to all invitees if the event record is deleted ! At least... |
