Salesforce IdeaExchange
Specific suggestions for Idea Exchange Rewards Program (Store)
This may be the case b/c I haven't searched, but shouldn't Member Accounts receive promotion points for successfully promoting implemented ideas, demoting spam ideas, commenting and creating successful ideas of their own?
Even if this is currently the system (forgive me, I'm new to SFDC, not to mention lazy) can't we create a store where posters can spend earned points on things such as gift cards, the privilege to post additional ideas, licenses/product features, SFDC blog space, App advertisements, exclusive meeting time with SFDC executives, membership into SFDC Power User groups, etc.?
As for the types of Store Items available, I would think SFDC Idea Exchange should be keep in mind the different types of users they have.
As a system admin of Salesforce Operations at a large organization, it is more beneficial for me to receive an added feature to SFDC at no cost (license, etc.). However, a mom and pop admin may get more out of a gift card (Starbucks, amazon, etc.). A VAR would probably like a free pass to Dreamforce for them or one of their premier customers. Anybody would probably like a trophy resembling the lamp from "A Christmas Story" (see below).
I will post a series of ideas as
complement these two prior posts that suggested general rewards Idea Exchange community members.

I like the idea of a "reward system" for participation, but given that the only ways of participating are to promote or demote an idea, site users would be encouraged to vote on ideas they may not care about. This would obviously skew the priorities and importance of all ideas. Now if there were some way to indicate participation without necessarily having to love or hate an idea, then the rewards voting would be more accurate. So I am humbly submitting my formerly, somewhat maligned "Indifferent" button suggestion. Having this option would allow users to indicate that they considered an idea and found that it's success or failure is not important to their org. This way they could acknowledge and be acknowledged for their participation in the discussion. |

Sorry to jack your post a bit, but I like what you are throwing out there and think my Idea could fit into it: http://ideas.salesforce.com/article/show/10092567/Indifferent_Idea_Button |

We could monitor comments as well, which is another option. However, your overall point stands that any incentive program needs to anticipate ways in which Community Members could abuse it to receive awards. Maybe a panel of uber-members that approves rewards. Of course, that will involve extra time spent not posting, promoting or commenting on ideas. I suppose, if we went that route, those members tasked with approving rewards would themselves receive points for their "Yea" or "Nay" votes. Also, it's awesome to attach your idea to mine. Good way to keep Community Members aware of other alternatives. |
