Order of Workflow Actions

I have multiple actions on a workflow, e.g. 5 different field updates, and I want the actions to be run in a specific order because I need one field to be updated before I update the next, which depends on it. I cannot seem to find a way to acheive this.

sepost 10/06/08	Currenlty workflow does not trigger workflow, so that could be the limitation you are running into.
TimAlsop 10/07/08	When I setup a workflow rule I can add various actions, and if the actions are field updates I expect them to be ordered, rather than the order of the field changes being random. I don't consider this to be workflow triggering workflow - I only have one workflow rule and this triggers multiple actions.
icemft1976 10/17/08	Hi Tim, I agree - this would be a huge help. Normally I end up translating these kinds of ordered operations into an APEX trigger to ensure the execution sequence I need....which seems a bit overkill since the web interface can do all the complex actions I need, just not order them. Maybe it's an issue of overhead involved in threading the actions into a single transaction, but let's hope they can overcome it!
