Excluding weekends in date/time math

It would be great if there was a way to select "exclude weekends" in calculating a duration.

ClosedDate - OpenDate

for example.
I have seen some complicated formulas for determining weekends, but it is far too complicated.
It would be better to have a simple way of doing this. This would be very helpful for support applications where you want to keep metrics of case durations but don't want to include weekends.

tim_diern Jul 23	Good one! We have a number of time dependant workflow rules and it would be very helpful if weekends could be excluded.

bharabedian Aug 14	We want to use Salesforce to assign time senitive leads. Once a lead is assigned to an individual, we want to be able to track how long it takes for the person to read the lead and set up a task. When the lead is assigned after business hours we want to be able to start the monitoring time frame from 8:00 am the next business day (excluding weekends and holidays).
