Clone Notes and Attachments

This is something that I have searched for high and low and have found no solution. I need to be able to have 2 attachment fields for a custom object. The custom object acts as an employee record. There are standard users that will be viewing these records and will need to make notes as well as attach files. However, there are leadership members that also need to make notes and attach files that only the leadership team should be able to view.

So essentially I need to be able to clone the Notes & Attachments section so that I may have one for all users, and another restricted for only the Leadership Team.

Is there anyone out there that has found away to make a custom attachment field?

Tried to create a custom object and add Notes and Attachments to that, however Force only allows one instance of notes and attachments in the related list.

Currently if we want to add a document to an opportunity we can of course by using the “Notes and Attachments” area and adding the document there.

However, that list gets big…. Where we have related lists eg for contracts we normally add the document at the lowest entity level and know where to find it. They all appear in the main docs list but do show what they are “related to”.

Now, we want to save our separately generated invoices as documents against the opportunity record – but not lose them in the long list that is the main documents area.

I know I could create a brand new object called “Invoice”, have it lookup or master-detail to the parent Opportunity, add the related list to the opportunity, and have 1 such object for the invoice and save the actual invoice PDF in that child object.

But what I really want to do is to replicate the “Notes and Attachments” area / functionality, call it invoices, and save my invoice(s) there.
