Ability to add custom report option dropdowns in Report header

I find the report filtering a bit cumbersome for the avg user and would like the ability to add custom report filter dropdowns to the Report Options section of the report header for any given report. For example, instead of just being able to change the "Summarize" option from one field to another, I'd like to be able to add a custom drop down that lets the user quickly filter on one or more opportunity stages, or account types, etc

Excellent idea, but apart from multiple drop down filters, I'd want to be able to change several aspects of the report configuration at once ( show details, currency etc)

It's a bit like storing several different "versions" of a report, within that report, rather than as individual seperate reports. For instance, you select the object, the fields and the subtotal, but can have a "version" with a memorable name, with alternative filters, alternative summarise fields, alternative date filters, and/or alternative graphs.

The key benefit would be that the basic structure of the report would be common, which saves re-structuring reports as a result of configuration changes.

Great idea. I'd Love to be able to filter by Account Field Value.

For example, we have a "Group" Custom Field that each Account belongs to. If this field is selected as a filter, the drop-down should return all the Possible Values in this field to select as the report Filter. This might seem like a lot of values, but these can be limited by the usual report filters.

I have to create individual reports for each group so the Salespeople can quickly and easy get the specific data they need. This idea would make things easier for an administrator and all the data a salesperson needs is available in ONE report.
