Schedule custom objects to the Salesforce calendar

It would be wonderful if users had the ability to add custom object records with a date to the salesforce.com calendar. For example, if you use a custom object to manage project assignments, it would be great to be able to use the calendar to manage those assignments. These assignments are NOT tasks.

Mark_Abramowitz May 20	How would you want to distinguish between Events and these custom object records displayed on the same calendar?
Paul.Fox May 21	I would recommend a combination of color coding and naming. For example, milestones for a project could be shaded green but the name would also say "Milestone: Project Stage 1" where Project Stage 1 is the name of the custom object Milestone. For integrations with other calendars these should probably appear as events through the API. That way milestones (and other custom objects) can appear on your outlook or google calendar also.
roaringfork2525 May 21	My first idea would be to color code these custom objects on the calendar using the custom tab color and/or icon.
Paul.Fox May 21	That's what I was thinking too but then I realized that it would be strange to only be able to schedule custom objects if they're on a custom tab. For example, in our project management we have a tab for projects, but we don't have a tab for milestones, which is what I would want on a calendar.
roaringfork2525 May 28	Of course you can still build a custom tab for milestones and just not expose the tab to users (if this was a requirement for the custom object being scheduled on a calendar).
derek_laney Jun 4	Nice... would be a natural progression to have the kind of calendar overlay like google calendars. E.g. Tick "Marketing Calendar" to see those events, Tick "Project Milestones" to see those events.
