Ability to customize the "from" for e-mails sent by a workflow
We heavily use time based workflows to automatically send e-mails out to leads and contacts. Currently, the "from" of the e-mails that are sent is the admin (or workflow creator, not very clear), the idea would be to have the ability to customize this, just like it is possible to insert merge fields in the e-mail template.
In our case, we would like the "from" friendly name and email address to be the lead or contact's owner.

I just posted this as well today since the search did not show your post, http://ideas.salesforce.com/article/show/10088537/Workflow_emails_to_leads_sh.... Sorry, I guess we should merge them. This is a very big bug in my opinion. In my tests the emails come from the last person who modified the lead record, not the owner. We are planning to send a series of time based emails to leads. Initially the email will come from the admin who imports the leads, then when the lead owner opens the lead record they become the last modified user so the emails will come correctly from them, but if an admin later updates the record with the excel connector they become the user who last modified the record and the emails come from them. I can't see any reason why this was done this way and hope it is fixed soon. In the meantime, if there are any known workarounds please let us know. |

Would be great to merge these ideas..... and have an idea search engine that is a bit more reliable, I searched and found none of these. In any case, I guess we all agree in that this should become a feature, hope SFDC is listening. |
